Toyota Japan has just unveiled their new TV commercial campaign for the Toyota Prius. It features Clark Kent dropping a pencil and then there's a shot of him revealing the Superman outfit underneath his suit.
The actor playing Kent/Superman is Matthew Bomer (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning), who was director Brett Ratner's first choice to play the title character in the Superman remake. When Bryan Singer took over the franchise and made "Superman Returns," Bomer auditioned for the role of Superman, but Brandon Routh was cast instead.
Judging by the commercial, it seems that the Prius campaign is more than just one ad. So while Bomer couldn't play Superman on the big screen, at least he's Superman in Japanese Toyota commercials.
"Hey a Prius!", hahaha I can't wait for the new season of Curb! Larry David is one of the reasons that I will be buying one of these. Smart idea using a former ruuner up Supes for the campaign. They probably could have gotten Routh but got this guy on the cheap.
Superman III has it's moments though Ranger you have to admit. "You always said you wanted to fly Kent! Now's your chance!" Bad Supes vs. Clark? Great stuff. I also like when he's in the bar breaking all those bottles with his super powered finger flicking.
Yeah... it did. And I'm such a big fan of Christopher Reeves. The bar scene you speak of was shot in Calgary, Alberta... as was most of the 'ground' scenes (incl. Smallville down south of Calgary) in the first 3 Supes flicks. I guess my disappointment lay whereby it was too much... well, I always though Supes should be (and was in the comics) a Guardian of our Planet (which they covered more-so with Routh's outing) - and I think the origin was brilliant (Mario Puzo - Supes 1&2). I just don't feel Superman was that 'super' in #3. And whomever wrote #3 just didn't understand Superman. I mean, the junkyard scene... throwing tires over the last son of Krypton, or putting him inside a metal shredder? Puulleaaasseeee... lol. But Reeve did make the best of it.
ha...I own that movie and I totally forgot about the tire thing. That was pretty craptastic. Damn..that movie did blow...but I'm a Reeves fan too so he definitely made the best of the script he was given.
He certainly did. Even though I think Singer and Routh did an amazing job (considering the boots they had to fill)... I'm such a C.R. fan. He'll always be the ultimate Superman in my book. His nickname in the comics was 'The Planet Mover'... and I wish they did some MAJOR Super stuff in the movies. But we know when the movies were made and there were limitations. But seriously... punching Zod would have sent him into orbit.
GUS GORMAN AT YOUR SERVICE! haha Richard Pryor saves it from total crap though. He slaps a keyboard twice and the whole world shuts down lmao. taps three times the world is saved...awww the 80's. Gawd we f*cking love to hate you.
