A while back, it was announced that the new Ridley Scott-directed "Robin Hood" movie would focus on the Sheriff of Nottingham. He would be a noble lawman than an evil king's right-hand man and face off with a more shadier Robin Hood.
Since the Sheriff was the lead role in the film, Russell Crowe decided to take it. But that left the role of Robin Hood up for grabs. So Crowe decided to take that as well. Soon, the idea of making the bad guy a good guy was abandoned and Crowe ended up staying on as just Robin Hood.
Now, Matthew Macfayden's agent has just confirmed that the British actor will be playing the Sheriff of Nottingham. Macfayden is known for such films as "Frost/Nixon," "Dead at a Funeral" and "Pride & Prejudice." He will go in front of the cameras in May and June.

Cool, i am down with that, since they are changing the role of Nottingham to agood guy he will do well. But if it was the usually bad guy nottinghman...i would love to see Tim Roth as Nottingham

I think just the fact that they can't decide what kind of movie they want to make is a bad sign. I mean, the sheriff is good, now he's bad.. is Robin good or is he bad? Who is Crowe playing again? They've all ready been filming for a while now and they just now hire a new sheriff? You have to wonder if there's even a script.
