New "Ninja Turtles" Movie to Use Turtle SuitsPosted: April 24th, 2009 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
|
Just yesterday, The Mirage Group announced a new live-action "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" movie, with a tentative 2011 release date. But will the film look more like the original "Ninja Turtles" or like "Alvin and the Chipmunks," where CGI characters are inserted into the real world.
"TMNT" co-creator Peter Laird updated his blog with a few bits of information about Mirage's plan for their new movie. Here is what he had to say:
"Our initial discussions regarding the next film had to do with what we were calling a "hybrid" -- live action with realistic Turtles rendered in CGI and blended in. This new idea -- which, frankly, I am VERY pumped about -- will have actors and stunt performers in full Turtle suits for filming in live action. As of right now, there is talk of using CGI to do "face replacement" for the suits so that we can get those great, expressive faces possible with CGI."
So basically, the new "TMNT" film will look like the upcoming "Where the Wild Things Are."
Regarding the status of the movie: "We are very early in the development process -- no writer or director has been chosen yet," said Laird. "And we've just started talking about the story." Mirage previously mentioned that it has already started discussions with several high-profile actors interested in portraying the Turtles.

About freaking time they got their sh*t together. The first one was awesome, and it made like 200 million worldwide, so they should have been putting more effort into the sequels from the start.

I hope they make the fighting a little more brutal. Not saying we need a blood fest but a little blood and a few broken bones would be great. Because there's nothing pretty about bad ass martial arts.
