"Wolverine" Outselling "Iron Man" in Advance Ticket SalesPosted: April 23rd, 2009 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
|
While many people are looking forward to seeing "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," there is no denying the fact that the recent leak might hurt the film's box office results.
It was recently reported that the film is tracking extremely well among key demographic groups and most of the people that have already downloaded the film are claiming that they will see it on the big screen or on DVD/Blu-ray. So which one is it, will the film suffer or will it not be impacted by the leak?
Online ticketer MovieTickets is now reporting that its advance sales for "Wolverine" are outpacing those for "Iron Man," by three to one. "Iron Man" was released last year in early May, and went on to bring in over $100 million during its opening weekend.

1. the 'leak' was intentional. 2. ALL of these Super Hero movies are drawing more and more people to them all the time... so the fact that Wolverine pre-ticket sales are out-selling Iron Man isn't suprising. 3. Iron Man... was his first movie last year... Wolverine has been building a following since the first X-Men. 4. Hugh Jackman makes all the chicks (like Gunslinger) wet. So all of this is pretty predictable.

2. Daredevil and both Hulk films bombed; and the Fantastic Four films didn't do that well 4. Nearly all of Jackman's non-Xmen films bombed except for "The Prestige", so no, women don't go wet for him

if the leak turn out not to hurt the bo, isnt that evidence that studios should start thinking long and hard about releasing new releases directly to the web?

Oh this movie will bomb. People may think it will be good, but the reality is wait till they see it....I've seen it, trust me....disappointments awaits.
Read my review in the forum section, it'll explain there.

TGDirector - I don't disagree. It may bomb... but not after a lot of people have seen it to say so. There's a lot of hype on this one. But... we always have Star Trek!

If you take into consideration that a good percentage of the movie going fans don't know or don't care about the origin.......then it should do good. It was a pretty decent movie. Not great......but good. If I didn't know what liberties they took, how would I know they were wrong? I think thats what FOX is thinking by releasing the movie.

this will not make 100 million it's first weekend...The leak might have hurt it alittle but I don't think people were really big for this movie...It's just a way for Fox to get as much money as they can out of the X-men name They more then likely don't even care if it's any good..."FUX" sux ass, bunch of fuckin jack-holes!!

They let out too many pics, trailers, character videos, tv spots, etc. That along with the leak, destroyed the anticipation.

Even tho people watched it online doesn't mean they won't go watch it with there friends. Besides watching it on the movie screen is more fun unless the move did suck lol then those people wont be there.

Yeah, I too am thinking this is just a VOD or rental. Can bend the little lady over the coffee table with a beer on her back and take this flick in at the same time (to make best use of my time).

Personal opinion here, if Origins does better than the other X-Men films and/or Iron Man - Fox should back off on trying to track down all pirates through torrent sites. It basically proves that whole thing about studios loosing money is wrong. They just don't want to be cheated.

Saw Jackman on Leno last night and they showed a clip that was a flipping SPOILER! I would like to be suprised on how one of the weapon X team members get killed. Now I know that Agent Zero gets killed off in a lame ass fucking way. FUCK YOU FOX!!!

GS: No cubical here my friend. acslaterson - you're right. I saw that too. From a lot of the comments on here... many are not pleased with Fox's lack of direction in their marketing, choice of films, etc.

Did anyone else read that advance screening review on AICN? They claim its the same as the workprint except the graphics and music have been cleaned up...not the totally different cut Fox has been claiming.
