Third "Da Vinci Code" Film in the WorksSubmit Comment
Columbia Pictures is currently preparing to release "Angels & Demons" in theaters on May 15th, but is also looking toward the future by getting the ball rolling on the third installment in the franchise.

Dan Brown, the author of both "Angels & Demons" and "Da Vinci Code," has announced that his next installment in the series is "The Lost Symbol" which will be published in the US and Canada on September 15th. The first print will create a whopping 5 million copies.

"Da Vinci Code" appeared in theaters in 2006 and went on to earn over $750 million in worldwide ticket sales on a budget of $125 million. Part of the film's success was the popularity of the book and the controversy that came with the topic. "Angels & Demons" has the same factors working for it.

lol...yea i agree with what you guys said....i always thought it was much wiser to wait until after the movie is released to see what the money's numbers bring in before green-lighting another sequel

Uhh... Sony, please take your hands off from Dan Brown novels! They are well on written pages, not on the movie screen...!

The mistake they made with the overlong original was that they stuck to close to Dan Brown and Dan Brown, for lack of a better word, is a friggin putz. Controversy was the crafty gimmick that fueled a mediocre writing talent to the best seller list. The film, with great performances and direction, allow us to realize that the only thing wrong with DaVinci Code was the overblown story itself. Hopefully they cut the Brown out of this one...
