Alexander Skarsgard is NOT "Thor"

Alexander Skarsgard is NOT "Thor"Submit Comment
"True Blood" actor Alexander Skarsgard was recently spotted having a meal with "Thor" director Kenneth Branagh. Upon hearing of this, fans immediately named him the favorite for the Norse god role, since he is 32-years-old, 6'4 tall, voted the sexiest man in Sweden five times and is the son of actor Stellan Skarsgard (Pirates of the Caribbean, Mamma Mia).

Despite being a perfect fit, it looks like Skarsgard is no longer in-talks for the film. "No, I don't think so," he told E! Online. "I haven't gotten the call, so..."

At this point, Natalie Portman and Josh Hartnett are still rumored to be part of the project, with Hartnett possibly starring as the evil Loki.

Yeah, hes the best person I can think of right now, loved him in Generation Kill. I dont wee why WP thinks he is hands down not Thor, I mean, the guy only said he doesnt think so since he hasn't been called.

I think Stellan Skarsgard (but it would be an older and darker thor) or Kevin McKidd could be great

I will believe it when someone else is cast, remember Routie and Jackson supposedly weren't going to be in Iron Man 2? There is still hope.

Bale put on 100 pounds in six months, I am sure this guy could put on 30 or 35 pounds in the same amount of time.

Bale was able to put on 100lbs in 6 months because he was already in fantastic shape...then got super-emaciated for The Machinist. Muscle memory and bulking up from almost nothing helped him immensely. 30lbs of solid muscle in 6 months would be absolutely epic for a lot of people. Also, X2 for Kevin McKidd.

My 160 pound friend was able to put in 20 pounds as a hard gainer in 6 months by eating 4,500 calories a day and consuming a minimum of 250 grams of protein a day. He didn't have Hollywood money or a Hollywood trainer and he was on a college student budget. It should be easy for a movie star to get into that type of shape.

acslaterson, there's no real reason why people in Hollywood should be able to bulk up easier than a college student who does things right like your friend. Diminishing returns, my friend. Just because they have a marginally better training regime doesn't mean they'll get exponentially better results. Bulking up is all diet and very little to do with actual routine beyond a certain point. And then there is genetics as well (i.e. the ability of Bale & Jackman to continually bulk up well whereas guys like McConaughey & other less-gifted actors just wind up with flat abs and veins in their biceps). This guy has a big frame, however, and a marginal amount of mass and tights will make him look huge on the big screen.

Actually Bale was skinny from making the machinest beofre he did Batman Begins, he bulked up then gained muscle mass
Ronsauce writes:

First of all, "hardgainer" is a bullsh*t term skinny guys throw around as an excuse. In the absence of a medical condition, a skinny guy who isn't putting on weight just isn't eating enough. Simple as that. Also, if your friend is a noob, he would have reaped the benefits of noob gains making 20lbs in 6 months quite possible and not all too uncommon for a noob. @The Skippy Spartan: Bale was skinny from The Machinist, but prior to that, he had some decent muscle mass. Muscle memory is a wonderful thing.

f*ck!! he was perfect! what the hell?!!
acslaterson writes:

By hard gainer I meant that he knew nothing about nutrition and diet, he had been lifting for 2 years prior with no significant weight or muscle gain. I am just saying that there are plenty of bodybuilders, former bodybuilders, and trainers out West and coupled with a nutritionist it should be easy for someone to get jacked if they have the money and a studio pushing them. And I totally agree about Bale and muscle memory, watch American Psycho!

Every now and then Stellan puts down his paper just enough to peer over it at his son, and he whispers with astonishment through the sheet, "Alexander...YOU came from MY NUTS man!"
