John Woo on "Hard Boiled 2" StatusPosted: April 17th, 2009 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
|
Back in March, it was reported that John Woo's production company has started to develop a "Hard Boiled" sequel, based on the "Strangehold" video game. We later found out that the new movie will in fact be a prequel.
"It will be a hardcore action film set in both Hong Kong and Chicago," Woo's production partner Terence Change previously revealed. "We will keep some of the action set pieces of the game, but the story is different. It is a total reinvention, with a much younger Tequila. In other words, it is not a sequel to Hard Boiled."
Now, Empire caught up with Woo to find out what's happening with "Hard Boiled 2." "I'm involved as producer," he said. "We're working on the script and I'm sure it's gonna be a very interesting movie, but it won't be ready until years from now."
Even though the new movie will feature a younger Tequila, Woo is still trying to get Chow Yun-Fat somehow involved with the project. Rumors are floating around that Stephen Fung (House of Fury) is currently in talks to helm.

Hard Boiled could've been one of the greatest action film series ever made, this is simply going to kill any ideas of that ever happening. Do a sequel with an older Tequila, get John Woo to direct and make it the way it should be made.
