Why "The Flash" Movie Fell Apart

Why "The Flash" Movie Fell ApartSubmit Comment
Back when "Justice League of America" was getting going at Warner Bros, "The Flash" was on the fast-track as well. At the time, director Shawn Levy (Night at the Museum, The Pink Panther) was set to helm the project about the fast man alive, but something went wrong and Levy dropped out, causing "The Flash" to slip into development hell. So what happened?

"Let me tell you the full, exact story," Levy told MTV News. "Collectively, the producers realized that movie needed a leader who could focus exclusively on bringing it to the screen and because 'Justice League' was looking like it was going to get made, there was this time sensitivity to move 'Flash' forward."

Levy recalled telling "The Flash" producers: "If you're looking for someone who can devote himself only to 'The Flash,' I can't be your guy, because I'm the shepherd of my own franchise 'Night at the Museum' and I'm going to need to pay attention to that."

As a result of "The Flash" collapse and Levy's in-demand schedule, the director said that he'll likely never make a superhero movie.

I have a feeling the film fell apart, because a film about a man running around is tough to make interesting. What is he going to do, return his videos on time, or make it to his prom? WP, focus your stories on more interesting characters.

Somebody please remind me why we should be worried if this guy ever makes a superhero movie. Look at what he has directed? Please explain to me what kind of person would WANT this guy to direct an action movie. And AmazingBill, with CGI where it it, I think The Flash could have a pretty good movie.

True that, Blank x2. Recently David Dobkin was gonna direct ("Fred Claus" sucked because he had notorious writers who followed the heartwarming Christmas comedy formula), and previous to that, David S. Goyer would direct with Ryan Reynolds as Wally West. Honestly, Shawn Levy hasn't made a film that many critics enjoyed. Giving the rights of The Flash to the man who ruined "The Pink Panther" franchise is not creative thinking.

It fell apart because you can't film someone that is faster than the speed of light, idiots.

I wouldn't mind a Flash movie. It would have to be really character and situation driven as opposed to CG-eye candy. Make it rooted. Make him shunned by society for his "gift". Take him to the point of suicidal and then bring him back to be a hero. The human factor will interest people.

Oh...and do not hire fluff directors like Levy. Get somebody who can evoke and show true human emotion for Christ sakes!

As much as I like the Flash a movie of just him dosent seem well enough to be made, not enough to make a solid story especially a solid action story

Brian Singer is the best SuperHero Movie Director... get him or don't bother. And WHO drew that image of the Flash... Stevie Wonder?!?! Check out 'Dynamic Anatomy' by Burne Hogarth...you LOSER!

That's a Michael Turner rendition you dumb f*ck and if you don't know that you shouldn't even be posting. Brian Singer?? The best?? I admit that X1 and X2 were decent but Donner and Rami still hold the crown with Nolan rounding up third. Don't be a douche.

Donner? Really? What did he do? The only thing I remember are those horrible Superman movies. Definitely wouldn't use them as a basis to call someone a douche.
