"Transformers" to be Re-Released in 3-D?

"Transformers" to be Re-Released in 3-D?Submit Comment
"Monsters vs Aliens" earned almost $60 million during its opening weekend, confirming that the 3-D aspect of a film can help its box office numbers. And Hollywood is already planning the next step, which is to open its vaults in order to convert dozens of hits into 3-D, including "The Matrix" and "Titanic."

Seems like every filmmaker is now planning their own 3-D film, except for Michael Bay, who recently called the technology a "gimmick" and a "fad." And while it seems that a 3-D "Transformers" film may be the next step in the franchise, Bay completely disagrees. But Paramount doesn't.

Tests for "dimensionalization" have already been done to his 2007 hit "Transformers," which means that the original film may actually be one day re-released in 3-D.

all i'll say is what just what i've said before...bay is right about 3d...it is a new gimmick...not every movie should be converted to 3d....not everyone wants to watch movies that way...next thing you know there will be virtual movies where you can be the star only hollywood plans your course in the role and you have to figure out what is gonna happen...kinda like total recall lol...j/k that's crazy talk...that's next generation gaming...maybe?

i'm just sayin movie companies are gettin weird...3d is not gonna have that big of an impact just because popular hits are converted to 3d and put in theatres

i cant agree with u synthetic. it maybe a gimmick yeah but a f*ckin cool one dude! I have seen TRANSFORMERS 15 times that the only movie i counted it cuz im a VFX enthusiast :D:D and I'd love to watch in 3D. Diving in the movie come on is there anything cooler than that? remember the post about the japanese? they want to make a 3D Imax Porn movie :D after i saw a 3D movie for the first time that was my first thought "Why dont they make 3D porn?" It'll work for all movies and in 20 years every movie will be shot in 3D believe me!

JakeVermont...i'm sayin it might not work for all movies...cuz for one there's blind people, and two some people it hurts their eyes...and lastly people like bay will still be alive in 20 years...and there will be people old and young even at that time, who still keep their preferences

blind people? waaattt? seriously since 3d is improving itself... it will probably be the future alternative.. even if it is a gimmick and ur reply to this is... blind people
JakeVermont writes:

u mean blind people only on one eye? uhm look in the future we wont neet those stupid glasses the technolgy will become awesome. and home theatres will be on room with a 360 3D projection on the round walls it will feel like u are IN the movie not acting just like an invisible observer - im not kidding i watched doc*mentaries which showed people working on this technology

ok blind people was probably a dumb comeback....let me put it more simply since you still didn't see it in there....people have their preferences....not everybody likes 3d!....just like there's old and young people who probably don't like it now....there will be old and young in the future that don't like it as well....you guys make it sound like EVERYONE will like it...i'm simply trying to say not EVERYONE will like it....see my point now guys?

NO! :D yeah thats ok but i think there will more who like it than not likers eh yeah

Is it just me, or is Bay just a little dense, or just plain slow?

bay isn't into 3d...but yet he'll do cgi...least bumblebee was real
Donald Kaufman writes:

What, is Bay under the delusion that he's maintaining some artistic integrity by undermining 3D? His entire enterprise is built on the fact that his movie's are effects spectacles. They are shallow, commercial digital orgasms. He doesn't have a leg to stand on in this argument--he IS a gimmick.

Um, when did Micheal Bay turn into George Lucas? Gee, I can't wait to see Pearl Harbor in 3-D...what an idiot.

hollywood and/or bay...is megatron overdosing on energon crystals lol

3d will be prominent in the future... 2d will always be there.. but 3d will become the standard eventually.. soon all animated movies will b released in 3 & 2d as a standard.. then it will switch to regular movies being released in 3 & 2d as a standard.. soon.. it will barely be a selling factor 4 a movie. Blind people or no blind people
synthetic1985 writes:

don't worry i'm not against all movies in 3d...just certain ones...and titanic would be kinda boring for a 3 hour movie in 3d...would be much better off with lord of the rings or sumthing lol
Donald Kaufman writes:

2001: A Space Odyssey in 3D...at least the worm-hole part. You wouldn't even need to be high to enjoy that.

on 2nd thought...i might lol....just cuz it'd be awkwardly more appealing heh
