Guillermo del Toro's "Rudo Y Cursi" Trailer

Cha Cha Cha is the production company formed by Spanish filmmakers Guillermo del Toro (Hellboy, Pan's Labyrinth), Alfonso Cuaron (Children of Men) and Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu (21 Grams, Bable). Their first movie is "Rudo y Cursi," which stars Diego Luna (Milk, The Terminal) and Gael Garcia Bernal (Babel, Blindness), and is directed/written by Carlos Cuaron.

Today, we have the trailer for the film, which is scheduled to hit theaters on May 8th, in limited release. "Rudo Y Cursi" made its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival this year and was one of the big hits.

Plot: Beto (Luna) and Tato (Bernal) Verdusco are brothers who work at a banana plantation and also play soccer for the village team. Nicknamed "Tough" because of his personality and football style, Beto dreams of becoming a professional soccer player; Tato's dream is to be a famous singer, and both share the dream of building a house for their mother, Elvira (Dolores Heredia). They have a change in luck when "Batuta," a soccer talent scout, discovers them accidentally.

Tato is the first to move to the big city where he becomes the star goal scorer for the prestigious Deportivo Amaranto (Amaranto Club). Although Beto feels he has been betrayed and left behind, he soon travels to Mexico City to become the goalkeeper for Atletico Nopaleros (Nopaleros Team). At the peak of glory, they forget all animosity, although it does not last long.

At the very real possibility of fulfilling all of their dreams, the siblings must face an innate rivalry as well as their own demons and limitations. Beto is a gambler and allows his addiction to drag him down; Tato is unable to recognize his true talents and squanders every opportunity by pursuing a false idea of celebrity and status. The dream seems to slip through their fingers. And it is at their worst moment that the brothers find forgiveness trying to help each other while casting headlong towards their individual destiny.

Love it, but stop saying it's a Del Torro movie.

@ Sinestro & Coldplayesence: Why don;t you like them? What have they been doing? Please don't tell me they are *ssholes in the real world.

Those little pricks come to mexico, their damn country and are totally like "we're too much for this country" that's why I don't like them. But I love Del Toro.

1st thing: SPANISH DIRECTORS??? Bravo, WP!!! The three of them are MEXICAN, although Del Toro and Iñarritu have both worked in Spain or with spanish actors for several times. And these are two great actors, but if the only films with them that you've seen are "The Terminal", "Open Range" or "Blindness", you can't know it. Luna was amazing in "Sin Noticias de Dios" or "Solo quiero caminar" and, have you seen Gael's "Science of Sleep" or "The motorcycle diaries"? Mmmm, those weren't american.......

Wow, really? That's disappointing. I can't help but say they are charming though but I understand why you feel this way now. Oh and Javicon, The Science of Sleep was flawed. I would say Gael has been great in other films like La Mala Educación (Bad Education) because most of his films have been carried by his charm & looks. I need to see him do something more on his talent as an actor if possible.
