New Pics and Description of Ravage from "Transformers 2"Submit Comment
Thanks to USA Today, we now have six new shots from the upcoming "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen," including a look at Ravage and a spider-like droid named The Doctor. Click on the link below to check them out.

In "Transformers" lore, the mechanical jaguar Ravage has been a villain favorite since the 1980s for his stealthy tactics and deadly force. "In the spirit of 'more than meets the eye,' Ravage isn't just lethal because of his sharp teeth," said screenwriter Alex Kurtzman. "There's actually another skill set Ravage has that didn't exist before, so there's going to be a surprise for fans."

This version of the cat already looks far different from the original, with a single glowing red eye and a swinging, mace-like tail, but his role will be similar to the 1980s cartoon and Hasbro toy the ultimate spy.

Ravage often was dispatched to monitor the heroic Autobots and their human allies, reporting back to the Decepticons by transforming into a cassette tape and replaying his recordings through the larger robot master Soundwave, who switched into a Walkman-sized tape deck.

The cassette tape transformation is gone, of course; Ravage doesn't turn into anything. But Soundwave will appear, again serving as an evil communications expert but this time in the form of an orbiting space satellite.

"They are still connected," fellow screenwriter Roberto Orci says of Soundwave and his pet. "But rather than trying to hold onto a notion as antiquated as an audiotape, which some members of our audience have maybe never laid eyes on, we wanted to go a new way."

And Ravage, as before, won't speak like the other Transformers. "We wanted to stay true to the idea that Decepticons who take visual clues from beasts maintain that," said Orci. "It would be strange to have a talking jaguar, or a scorpion with an English accent."

Filmmaker Michael Bay has ensured that Ravage has lots of company, including many redesigned favorite robots from the original 1980s incarnation, in the new film. "We have big guys, some little guys. We have a lot of littler ones, too. Little weirder ones," Bay said. Like the Insecticons, which were giant bugs in the original series and Hasbro toy line, but are now tiny creepy-crawly infiltrators.

COOL! Insecticons!! so is that how he added 60 robots to this movie? bye shrinking some down? It also sucks that Soundwave isn't a tape player that was awesome in the show.

"It would be strange to have a talking jaguar, or a scorpion with an English accent."....yea, so would a talking transformer or car...big f*ckin deal....make ravage talk damnit!....it's about staying true to the story...not some silly logical yet realistic but yet, it's not realistic cuz it's not real huh?...back to my point, make them talk...quit changin sh*t....could've had ravage transform into a cd or an mp3 player instead....but they were probably like 'nah, old people wouldn't understand, and kids in high school wouldn't know what a cassette is'...bullsh*t...and to think in beast wars...when u see ravage at the end of season 2...he still had the cassette transformation...and it was badass!....oh well...my main concern is to see a pea-sized optimus prime tryin to fight a universe-sized devastator...ok universe-sized really didn't mean anything but you get the point

and i still can't get over how stupid it was for the transformers learning earth's languages through the world wide web lol...omg...they didn't even have internet back in 1930 or whenever they found megatron in stasis lock...so i wonder how he learned it if there wasn't any internet developed yet....clearly whoever is writing these scripts isn't thinking professionally...or they're just not professional at it

No one seemed to mind that for the most part all the Imperials in Star Wars IV-VI had Imperialist English accents...anyway, I'm surprised they didn't make Ravage transform into an ipod. I hope they're not nuking the fridge with this one...
