Fox Screws Up "Slumdog Millionaire" DVD Release

Fox Screws Up "Slumdog Millionaire" DVD ReleaseSubmit Comment
20th Century Fox recently revealed that rental DVDs of their movies will have all the bonus material taken out. To see the extras, people would have to purchase the DVD. Seems like a great way for Fox to make more money, but something along the way got criss-crossed.

"Slumdog Millionaire," that recently won the Oscar for Best Picture, was just released on DVD yesterday. Many copies were purchased on Amazon, but when buyers received their package, they quickly noticed that outside a few trailers, the DVD had no bonus material. It's like Fox/Amazon decided to sell the rental copies.

This is clearly not a good thing for Fox, which has already become the least favorite studio of movie-goers. But they acknowledge their mistake and offer the following statement:

"We are aware that special features were missing from a number of Slumdog Millionaire DVDs. Fox has set up a hotline telephone number (1-888-223-4FOX) for those consumers who may have purchased a version that does not contain special features. Upon calling the hotline, these consumers will be able to have their disc replaced for one containing special features. Fox regrets any inconvenience this has caused."

Wow, FOX just can't help f*cking up the past couple of days can they? First the Wolvie leak and now this? f*ck, hire me as your President of your film division. I double check and do quality work, obviously the people working for you now don't.

What they need is a giant "UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT AND OWNERSHIP" sign in their front window soon.

For a second when I read the headline, I thought they were talking about Megan Fox, which would be impossible since everything she does is perfect...

these guys would get more respect if they just change their name to AIG...

It's shouldn't be called FOX it should be called "FUX"

Say what you will about Fox, but at least they owned up to their mistake and are fixing it by replacing the disc. Unlike Magnet/Magnolia with their botched "Let The Right One In" release with their stupid subtitles. I thought I'd never say it, but there's now a distributer worse than Fox and their name is Magnet Releases (Magnolia). Wow, who would have ever thought Fox could be out done. f*ck you Magnolia.
Vega writes:

Whoops, no edit feature here. Just wanted to thank Fox for providing a way to rectify their mistake and obtain a proper disc. I still hate you, but a little less and you gained a bit of respect.

Yknow everyday FOX gives another reason why they shouldn't be allowed to make movies.

too bad, people dislike fox so much that when they make an honest mistake that they own up too, they will never be able to live it down. They shuddnt have earned that reputation
WAFFLE MAN writes:

That's true Vega about Let The Right One In but Fox still sucks worse because they made more than one mistake and kept making them. This is Magnolia's first mistake and only the people who saw the original would have noticed the mistake.

A couple of you posted interesting apologies to FOX, or at least walked a little of your anger back...Keep the anger at this level. The reason this happened is their whole rental/purchase DVD experiment in which they attempt to screw consumers got botched. It is more like Karma.

Why do they care if renters see the extras? What are they thinking? "Hmm, I'm thinking of renting Slumdog Millionaire... wait, whats this?! There's no extras!? sh*t I guess I'll just have to buy it instead". How about you stop trying to screw people over Fox... That might actually be a decent business model!

only a matter of time before the sh*t really hits the fan....
