Sigourney Weaver Tops "Ultimate Action Hero" Poll

Sigourney Weaver Tops "Ultimate Action Hero" PollSubmit Comment
Sigourney Weaver has beaten Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone to be named "Ultimate Action Hero" in a new poll. The actress, who played Ellen Ripley in the "Alien" franchise, was the only woman in the Top 10 list.

The poll was conducted by British cable channel Sky Movies as a way to promote its "Action Season," which will run throughout April.

In addition to Schwarzenegger and Stallone, who came in second and third, Weaver also beat Chuck Norris (fourth) and Matt Damon (fifth).

Sky Movies' Mark Dolan said: "I've always been terrified of women - now I know I was right to be! Sigourney is a great actor and an unrivalled action hero - a worthy winner."

Jean-Claude Van Damme, Bruce Willis and Steven Seagal also made the top 10. The heroes were judged on five categories, including, weapons, one-liners, kill count, creative ass-kicking and sex appeal.

This news comes just days after Weaver made it into Entertainment Weekly magazine's Top 20 Heroes of all time poll.

Do you agree with the poll? It seems that the body count in Stallone's last "Rambo" movie was the highest ever and nobody can beat Schwarzenegger in corny one-liners.

John McClane is definetely worthy. Kurt Russel too, boy he should be on there. Harrison Ford?.... Oh and probably Mel Gibson, just for his movies Payback and Road Warrior. damn, this list could go on forever.

What movies besides the Alien series was she a badass? I can't think of any...

exactly.....she doesn't deserve to be on this list based on 1 franchise. damn this list to hell

Name-checking Chuck Norris doesn't earn you cool points anymore. Not hating, I've met the guy in person and he's an affable fellow, but the joke really needs to stop. "Walker, Texas Ranger" was entertaining but clichéd up the wazoo, and he doesn't have any movies half as good as Willis or Schwarzenegger. I'd say his best onscreen performance would be the Bowflex commercial. And as good as the Jason Bourne trilogy was, Damon has not done enough action roles to deserve a rank in the big leagues just yet. Other than that, everything looks in order. I am, however, with guitar_dudester91: Gibson and Russell deserve some recognition.

Thats just it: Weaver wasn't cool in anything but Alien, so the list goes unjustified.... And I wouldn't go with newer actors, I mean, they just aren't the same as older badasses like Stallone or Russel or those guys.... More possibilities: Clint eastwood and Bruce Campbell.

Charles Bronson and Charlston Heston should be on there as well.

"Go ahead, make my day" can we get a Clint Eastwood mention in there???

Clint Eastwood is the greatest badass of all time. The end.

I don't buy this argument that Weaver doesn't deserve to be #1 on this list because she was only badass in one franchise. Give me a break! Does anyone dispute the scream-queen status of Shelley Duvall despite being in only one horror movie? Or Heath Ledger as a great villianous actor despite being evil in only one movie? Ripley is the quintessential film feminist icon. She changed the way heroines could be marketed towards mainstream audiences, and has ALL of the attributes listed on the criteria in the poll. Besides, how many Oscar nominations did Schwarzenegger, Van Damme, Willis, Seagal, or Stallone recieve for their "badass" personas? Yeah, I thought so...

Nah she's not number one even tho she went from regular space worker to Alien ass kicker in perfict form her weapons, one-liners, kill count, creative ass-kicking can't compare to Rambo,John McClane and others......I wonder if this is an April fools joke *looks around*

And Metafact your wrong "The heroes were judged on five categories, including, weapons, one-liners, kill count, creative ass-kicking and sex appeal." not bye Oscar nominations. I think she's awesome but she loses in ALL those.

Come On! She kicked some royal ass with a f*ckin' Exoesqueleton!!! And she wasn't even a damn soldier, that gives you a lot of points. Oh, and she said called that xenomorph "bitch!!!" that movie was freakin' awesome. I think it's ok.

Um... where is Sean Connery, the dude was the best Bond and he was making awesome action movies until he was geriatric in The Rock, meanwhile Weaver's only action movies was the Alien franchise. This poll seems off, never had I asked a friend his opinion of the best action star and Sigoney Weaver would pop up in the conversation.
