Brandon Routh Cut Out of "The Informers"Posted: March 29th, 2009 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
|
FoxNews is reporting that "Superman Returns" star Brandon Routh was cut out of the upcoming "The Informers" film, along with his entire storyline. And don't expect for any of the stars to show up for publicity events or press junkets.
The reason is that Brett Easton Ellis, the author whose book the film is based on, and screenwriter Nick Jarecki are pretty unhappy about the way the movie turned out. The main actors are said to be in agreement. "The Informers" that they all started to make, they've told friends, is quite different from the finished product.
The trouble was generated when Gregor Jordan replaced Jarecki as director after Jarecki and Ellis did about three years worth of prep work adapting Ellis's novel. "It was going to be like Boogie Nights, and now it's turned into some terrible, dark meditation," an insider revealed. And the old scirpt was cut from 150 to 94 pages.
Ellis said: "It's hard to tell now, but it was supposed to be like criminals and vampires and girls and young people." But the vampire story — Routh's plot line — was cut out completely amid budget concerns and complaints of too much sex and violence.

Well that is pretty stupid. Just saw Zach and Miri Make a Porno today and Routh and Justin Long's scene was freaking hilarious! I feel bad the guy is getting screwed over like this.

I've known this for quite a while and Ellis is one of my favorite authors. I'm really disappointed about how this movie is turning out.

Even if THEY don't like how they're pet project turned out- it's still possible its a good film when you remove it from the book. I mean if you work on something for 3 years you're going to nitpicik it when its done. But people were expecting dark...I know I was. Gregor Jordan is a good filmmaker so I'll wait and see. 90 percent of authors are disappointed with their translations anyways so its nothing new to hear something like this....meh.
