"Rambo IV" and "American Gangster" UpdatePosted: October 27th, 2006 by WorstPreviews.com Staff

The fourth installment of "Rambo" and the new Denzel Washington film "American Gangster" have set their sights on shooting in Thailand. "Rambo" is preparing to return from retirement to begin shooting early next year, to take advantage of the country's lush, mountainous northern provinces.
In the latest sequel, entitled "Rambo IV: In The Serpent's Eye," John Rambo (Sylvester Stallone) is pulled out of retirement in Bangkok to help find missionary aid workers who disappear as they're delivering supplies to ethnic minorities in neighboring Myanmar.
About 70 to 80 percent of the movie will be shot in Thailand, but not without concerns from the local Film Office. Even though the country stands to earn $5 million, they are worried that the violence in the movie could reflect badly on ethnic minorities on the Thai-Myanmar border. "We did not forbid them [violent scenes] - we just asked them to be careful."
While Rambo will begin next year, Ridley Scott's new film "American Gangster" is scheduled to begin shooting as early as November 8th. Only about 5 percent of the movie will be shot in Thailand - in the capital Bangkok - employing about 250 Thais and bringing the country at least $1.6 million.
The film will star Denzel Washington as a Harlem heroin kingpin Frank Lucas, who smuggled drugs to New York in the 1970s inside the coffins of American soldiers killed in the Vietnam War. He was eventually caught by New York detective Richie Roberts played by Russell Crowe.
Thailand has long touted itself as an ideal film location, having recently welcomed "Alexander" and "Star Wars Episode III" for their partial shoots.
