According to Bloody-Disgusting, "The Strangers" helmer Bryan Bertino will not return to direct the sequel. He instead could be replaced by French director Laurent Briet, who is currently in final negotiations with Rogue Pictures.
Briet's resume is quite limited, having previously only worked on the visual effects for "The Ring" and directed a short film called "Little Minx Exquisite Corpse: Role a Dope."
The sequel, which is written by Bertino, is said to take place in a trailer park and is a high priority for Rogue.
Released in 2008, the original "The Strangers" was a surprise hit, earning over $80 million in worldwide ticket sales on a $9 million budget.
