Alex Proyas Talks "Dark City" Sequel IdeasSubmit Comment
While promoting his upcoming "Knowing" film, director Alex Proyas (I, Robot) told MTV News that he may soon get a chance to make a sequel to his 1998 film "Dark City."

"I always thought it would be intriguing to have Rufus [Sewell], who was the hero in the first one, be the bad guy," Proyas explained. "He should turn nasty because he's got unlimited power. That's something I'd like to explore."

In the original movie, a man struggles with memories of his past, including a wife he cannot remember, in a nightmarish world with no sun and run by beings with telekinetic powers who seek the souls of humans.

Whether or not the original cast, which also included Jennifer Connelly and Kiefer Sutherland, would be on board to do a follow would remain to be seen. According to Proyas, however, the gears are already turning. "There have been some discussions fairly recently," he said. "It's had this shelf life and just lately it's done well enough that there have been some discussions about a sequel."

Don't f*ck it up by making the hero turn into a bad guy! If any of you have seen dark cty, then you know that would be a f*cking piece of sh*t sequel. Don't f*ck it up.

guitar_dudester91...i agree totally...way to ruin the story....it only works with certain stories but to have the good guy turn bad?...that would be beyond the farthest that stupidity and carelessness can ever reach

Dark City tanked at the box office. Why would a sequel be green lit? Yes, I am aware DVD sales help profits, but that doesn't mean you should make a sequel.

nor does it mean the sequel will top its first....it'd be nice if they did something where before these studios green lit ANYTHING to ask the public audience what they think first...so that way maybe they can get a better glimpse of the money they're expecting from these films
