It was recently reported by Production Weekly that the 2008 Swedish vampire film "Let the Right One In" is being remade by Overture Films, which will call it "Let Me In" and will begin shooting this May in Canada.
Bloody-Disgusting checked in with Overture, who said that there is very little truth to that report. In fact, the film is still currently titled "Let the Right One In" and that the script is being worked on. The studio added that the idea of shooting this winter film in May is ridiculous.
Matt Reeves (Cloverfield) is directing the remake that follows Oskar, an overlooked and bullied boy, who finds love and revenge through Eli, a beautiful but peculiar girl who turns out to be a vampire.
What is the point? I mean really, the movie came out like what a year ago? I don't get why we have to "Americanize" all these foreign films. Why can't we just leave them alone. Like Death at a Funeral, now Let the right on in, whats next the sequel to [REC]? I mean COME ON! STOP!
How about this, you think up new idea's for movies. Like WOW insane concept right? Leave this film and any other films someone wants to remake alone. Listen if its a great film, leave it that way. If its a crappy film, its crappy so don't remake it. Or hell give it to Uwe Boll. Dude makes crappy films already, so giving him crappy films to screw up, no problem.
You have to realize most of our fellow Americans are to lazy to read so subtitled movies are never going to get the acclaim they deserve and a remake, regardless of if it's inferiority to the original is always going to be preferable. And no, that's not a self loathing statement, it's a sad and realistic fact.
bacci40...i like ur thinkin...that's exactly what they should do...translate foreign films...not remake...i'm gonna start keeping track at how long it'll take for the day when remakes and sequels and prequels don't overrule original movies....i still wanna make legend of zelda into a movie lol...hasn't been done yet...and i'd make it strictly for fans...could care less what critics would think of it, and being a fan myself, i'd write the script and show it off to EVERYONE so that if people don't like certain parts...they can help by sharing their thoughts or suggestions...cuz i'd make sure the movie was most pleasing to fans...and i'd try to keep it level with cgi...not all the monsters or creatures would be cgi, and not all settings would be behind blue or green screens...would basically make it 80s/today style...after all it came out in the 80s...and would also need MANY people to work on it...and it has to have a decent amount of dungeons to be explored before facing ganon, not ganondorf lol...dunno if anybody agrees with me on any of this though
