"Fantastic Four" is Being RebootedPosted: March 9th, 2009 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
|
Does anyone want another Tim Story-directed "Fantastic Four" movie? Probably not. But what about a reboot of the franchise with a better director, crew and screenplay?
According to IESB, 20th Century Fox is looking to start the franchise from scratch and will not bring back any of the stars of the first two, poorly-reviewed films.
The studio is planning to go in a "less bubble gum" direction, but not be as dark as "The Dark Knight." More like "Iron Man," as far as action, humor and tone.
A reboot sounds pretty good, but only if they could replace the studio as well.

Yeah exactly. You can't 'reboot' something that's less than five years old.

What is up with all these reboots and remakes? Does anybody have an original idea anymore? The Fantastic 4 franchise wasn't that old. I actually enjoyed them. Even if a reboot works, it's way too soon. Hey, I hear a reboot of Watchmen is coming out next weekend.

I think this also couldve been an awesome series to bring to the screen but they fucked it up and made it so kiddy and with such a poor story. The cast wasnt totally bad, I just think if they wouldve made it somewhat darker and less "ha ha ha" and publicity it wouldve been better. I dont think its time for a reboot though, no no not all. Its way to soon! Maybe give it a go in 10 years or so...

Projekt SHIN....you just made a point so clear hollywood is just too damn blind to see it with the naked eye...they've lost their original 'vision'...and is now replaced with a new one...it's kinda like that movie with jessica alba, 'the eye' lol...we're seein crazy shit through this new eye...it's gettin scarier every passing millisecond haha...at least with movies about the guy who started facebook.com or a reboot of fantastic four...i guess that's good?...suddenly my original ideas don't seem so bad now lol

Too. Fucking. Early. Who is really in charge of Fox? I mean, seriously. They have an extremely bad rep for cancelling TV shows way too early, they sue for movies for they had nothing to do with (Watchmen), and now they want to remake movies that are less than 5 years old. What moron is running this company and how do they stay in business? They're like the Uwe Boll of Hollywood studios. They make the worst possible decisions yet somehow they're still around and keeping popping up here and there and nobody understands how it's possible.

who the fuck are they kidding? rothman hates the comic book properties fox owns. he hates the fact that they make money. he has done everything in his power to see them fail. and once they started making money, he believed that you could throw any piece of crap up on the screen, "and they will come"...and he was mostly right. fuck rothman and fox...you have killed the ff, let them lie in peace.

Bad move FOX, what I don't get is half the people on here, the fans, academics etc, could right a better story and script than what has been before and not just FF, so why can't Fox do this? and why reboot something that has potential. I like superhero films and It makes me angry when studios just can't get it right, and FF isn't the worst.
I agree that a reboot isn't the best idea but a third film with new ideas and crew may be the option, however changing the actors isn't such a good idea as people get attached and don't like change.
Or incorporate the FF into another Mavel film or do a joint project!
Come on Fox get a grip, and I do hope that the extensive re-editing of X-Men Origins: Wolverine don't make that another poorly reviewed effort from Fox, and compared to some of the summer films coming out Fox is going to be the laughing stock again!!

haribo692003...excellent point...i don't get it either...the 90s cartoon adaptations of most of the comics were done nicely...if not perfectly...and then when it comes to being live-action...most of the time it's fucked.....in batman it worked because they had four movies and the 3rd and 4th really pissed a lot of fans off...so they started over and waited it out...but FOX is so dumb...they shouldn't even be called 20th century...that's last century's news...ever since 2000 was here they should've changed to 21st century fox...so they could copy 21st century real estate lol...fox lately has a bad habit of remaking shit and ruining good stories...on the highest rank of course....don't get me wrong, i know there's other studios doin that too...but i think everyone here agrees that fox is definitely ranked first

This Sucks! I'm really starting to hate these big film companies. All they're about is money. Why reboot it when it is so new. It's so stupid. I think this is all built off the success of the Batman reboot. People were confused enough after the reboot of the Hulk. No wonder the film industry is going down hill, maybe if they had some originality they would get more people in! They really need to wake up to the fact that their entire company is melting to shit.

Damn the corpse isn't even cold yet! first of all, i can't believe i saying this but the original series wasn't even that bad, sure it was "bubble gummy" but that's what this series is, it's hard to make a grittier series based on "it's clobbering time" come on not every comic is like batman or even iron man.

haha...i know...watching fantastic four was like watching the globetrotters in scooby doo cartoons heh...fantastic four was always 'bubble gummy'...and for stupid studios to take things like superman and make it dark, or fantastic four, and make it dark...it's just beyond pathetic...and beyond that lol
