The Catholic League to Help "Angels & Demons" Become a Hit

The Catholic League to Help "Angels & Demons" Become a HitSubmit Comment
The Catholic League plans to do battle with the Ron Howard prequel "Angels and Demons" -- even though the organization's crusade against Sony's 2006 "The Da Vinci Code" may have actually helped that film earn a huge $758 million worldwide.

Claiming the project has an anti-Catholic agenda, the league announced on Monday that it will send several news releases discussing what it says are falsehoods in Dan Brown's book and Howard's films, which is scheduled to hit theaters on May 15th.

In "Angels & Demons," Langdon discovers evidence of the resurgence of an ancient secret brotherhood known as the Illuminati - the most powerful underground organization in history - he also faces a deadly threat to the existence of the secret organization's most despised enemy: the Catholic Church. When Langdon learns that the clock is ticking on an unstoppable Illuminati time bomb, he jets to Rome, where he joins forces with Vittoria Vetra, a beautiful and enigmatic Italian scientist. Embarking on a nonstop, action-packed hunt through sealed crypts, dangerous catacombs, deserted cathedrals, and even to the heart of the most secretive vault on earth, Langdon and Vetra will follow a 400-year-old trail of ancient symbols that mark the Vatican's only hope for survival.

People, these books are fiction. In the words of Mel Gibson, "stop crying!"

The Catholic League is being a little over dramatic in my opinion. Its just a dodgegum book for chrissakes.

Falsehoods in the movie and book...Really...Is that really their argument. hmmm...It was always my understanding that when a book said it was fictional, it meant it was fictional...

Well technically, if the film is being shot in churchs/catholic cathredrals, etc, then they may have a point. There are alot of brainless people out there that don't know what is wrong and what is right. For crying out loud, there is a "Jedi like" Religion out there that rose out from star wars. You have kids thinking there are really witchs and wizards out there and Hogwarts school is for real. I won't even get into the World of WarCraft or Pokemon cravers. lololol

It'd be worth it if Howard made a good movie, but Angels and Demons will be awful. The book is far better than The Da Vinci Code, and this new movie looks even worse. Any chance this has of being a success will be stopped by people choosing to read the great book instead and Star Trek, Terminator, and Night at the Museum.

PlanetAstudios...How can you say that? If people are too goddamn stupid to realize fact from fiction then they're frigging idiots. All it is is a bunch of Catholic book burners (nuns and all) that are petitioning the movie due to the papacy and religion shown in a negative light. Schwasted...How is this going to be a bad movie. What is bad about it?

It's just a book. BUT, i remember talking to people who SWORE the davinci code.. while filled with fictional characters, was histoically accurate! which was funny since dan brown himself said "THIS IS FICTION! THIS IS NOT TRUE!" MY PASTOR'S SON-IN-LAW IS ACTUALLY IN THIS MOVIE. I'M TOTALLY SEEING IT!
