"Monsters, Inc" Sequel in the Works?

"Monsters, Inc" Sequel in the Works?Submit Comment
We already know that Pixar is all about sequels, no matter how much they believe that they are not. The studio is currently working on the third installment of "Toy Story," a sequel to "Cars" and apparently a sequel to "Monsters, Inc."

Back in August of 2008, Pete Docter (director of "Monsters, Inc) spoke about a potential sequel: "We've thought about it. Monsters, Inc. We've got a couple ideas."

Now, Disney, Pixar and Docter are not confirming or denying a new "Monster, Inc" movie, but The Pixar Blog has some evidence that confirms that they are at least planning it.

Using their user-tracking tool, the site noticed that someone at Pixar did a search for "monsters 2013 pixar." I can only assume that the studio is trying to see if any information about their planned sequel has leaked. And apparently, the goal is to have the film in theaters by 2013.

Separately, the BluSkyDisney blog has learned that Docter will return to helm the sequel. I'm not sure how reliable this blog is, but they believe that Disney/Pixar will keep quiet about the new installment until Docter is done promoting his latest film "Up." The site also states that the film is tentatively set to hit theaters in 2013.

The original movie appeared in theaters in 2001 and went on to earn over $525 million in worldwide ticket sales on a $115 million budget.

Pixar movies are awesome, of course, and though a sequel to any Pixar movie is always a must, Monsters Inc. ended so beautifully though!...but if theres a sequel i would see it no problem!....TOY STORY 3!!

Gotta say, I liked the first one. Maybe the guys will lose their jobs in this one due to outsourcing and a poor economy.

Nope. Pixar is production company royalty, but Monster's Inc. doesnt need a sequel. Give the Incredibles one, but not Monster's Inc. It had a perfect ending. Just like Finding Nemo (but not as good).

I agree with meanmonkey, The Incredibles is much more aproppiated for a sequel. But I wouldn't say Monsters 2 would be such a bad idea. Cars 2 is what should never happen. Cars is the only bad film they've made. I hate it.

always a good thing to here, sequel or first jumping off film, always a treat. I liked Monsters Inc. - it was very imaginative and funny.
