"Friday the 13th" Sequel Confirmed

Friday the 13th Sequel ConfirmedSubmit Comment
THR is reporting that Platinum Dunes is already moving forward on a new "Friday the 13th" film, with Damian Shannon and Mark Swift returning to write the script. Here is what the site said:

"Unlike the sophomore efforts of other franchises, the new "Friday" is expected to be not a sequel so much as a follow-up, those familiar with the project say. Jason Voorhees will be the villain, of course, but the new picture is expected to use elements of the original franchise more as a jumping-off point than as a template.

The reason? The reboot drew from the first four pictures in the "Friday" series, and producers are said not to be keen on the plot elements of the half-dozen movies that followed.
"

The site added that Marcus Nispel, who directed the latest film, may end up being replaced due to his busy schedule. It is assumed that the follow-up may end up in theaters on August 13th, 2010.

A sequel? To a Friday the 13th movie? I've never heard of such a thing. Then again, I HAVE been living in a cave for 30 years and I WAS raised by wolves.

It really doesn't matter who directs these movies. Nobody watches them for the fabulous directing anyway. That being said, I'll be seeing the sequel.

OK, so if we include Freddie vs Jason, the next movie will be Part 13. Since they made the effort to reboot, please do something special for #13.
