Eddie Murphy in Richard Pryor BiopicSubmit Comment
Entertainment Weekly has learned that director Bill Condon (Dreamgirls) is shopping his script "Richard Pryor: Is It Something I Said?" to studios and independent distributors. Eddie Murphy is attached to star.

Sources say that Fox Searchlight, the studio behind "Little Miss Sunshine," "The Wrestler" and "Slumdog Millionaire" is interested in the film. The studio already has a working relationship with Condon, having previously partnered with the director on his 2004 "Kinsey" film.

The "Pryor" biopic was first set up with The Weinstein Company, but was put into turnaround. Now that Fox Searchlight is interested, Condon is hoping to secure $25 million to produce the picture.

I thought they were going to cast Mike Epps.

As much as Eddie has slipped in recent years, I still think he's going to kill if this pans out. Pryor is obviously one of his biggest influences and idols and I can't see him putting in anything less than a stellar performance.

Eddie would not screw this up, he knows this is his chance to win an oscar...

Eddie is a f*cking looser, but I can't help but say this is his comeback role. He better not f*ck up, Pryor was the best.

Does Eddie even remember how to be funny? He is such a nutcase and his recent movies have been crap (I blame the lure of Disney money). However, I loved Jo Jo Dancer and would be interested in seeing a Pryor biopic.

I can't picture anyone else but Eddie doing this. Hopefully we'll see some classic Eddie in this one.

He does a great Pryor. I think it was on Delirious. And it's about time Pryor got a little more recognition.

yup its gonna be a rated PG and disney is gonna be an executive producer o and he is gonna wear some kind of make up or fat suit too, Eddie Murphy is Done,he doesent say bad words anymore and all he makes is terrible movies, stick to making flops and getting a sh*t load of money doing it

You can't do a Pryor movie without profanity, so I think you're a bit off the mark, Kirk. Though I am a little skeptical in general. Didn't Murphy say he was going to retire? But then, again, he does hold a record for Meet Dave for biggest one-week drop in number of theaters.

Why the hell would they pick Eddie Murphy to play Richard Pryor. shouldn't the actor that looks just like Richard get the Role. Hello Stevie Harvey!! Mike Epss would be just as good. He's funny no sh*t.

WHY DO THEY KEEP GIVING THIS MAN WORK? WHY??? WHY??? HE HASN'T BEEN FUNNY IN OVER 20 YEARS, LITERALLY!! HE DOESN'T HAVE THE TALENT TO PULL OFF PRYOR. HE'S NOT GOING TO SOUND OR LOOK ANYTHING LIKE PRYOR

Even Eddie Grifin would be better.

I'll say - yes to this biopic idea and f*ck no to Eddie Murphey! Mike Epps would be an interesting choice or Steve Harvey.
