"Dylan Dog" Begins Shooting

"Dylan Dog" Begins ShootingSubmit Comment
Hyde Park Entertainment Group and Platinum Studios have commenced production on "Dead of Night," based on the best-selling Italian comic book series, "Dylan Dog," created by Tiziano Sclavi. Principal photography is taking place in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Brandon Routh (Superman Returns) stars as Dylan - a reluctant private investigator who is drawn into the world of vampires, werewolves and the undead -- and the film is being directed by Kevin Munroe (TMNT).

Munroe brings a fresh take to the genre by focusing less on the transformation from human to non-human and more on the seamless interaction between the living and the undead. Writers Joshua Oppenheimer and Thomas Dean Donnelly (Sahara, Conan the Barbarian) have taken the world of Dylan Dog out of a European setting and given it a New Orleans flavor with its rich bayou and marshland backdrop.

The comic book series has sold more than 56 million units worldwide and has been translated into 17 languages since its debut in 1986.

This (awesome) comic charachter was inspired (fisically) by actor Rupert Everett, who later starred in Michelle Soavi's (director) and Tiziano Sclavi's (writer) cult film Dellamorte Dellamore, some kind of version of Dylan Dog. I mean, Dylan Dog IS Rupert Everett. Ok, now Everett is maybe too old to do the role but...Brandon Routh??? I'd prefer seeing Adrien Brody or anyone "not-cute"

I've been reading comics for almost 30 years and I've never heard of this book...odd. And no, Routh isn't the most gifted actor in the world but I think he's got a very believable nice guy sorta persona about him and I don't think he's nearly as bad on screen as some people make him out to be.

Almost hate to say it, but I think Keanu would be good for the role
