Hasbro Reveals "Ouija" Movie Details

Hasbro Reveals "Ouija" Movie DetailsSubmit Comment
Hasbro is set to bring a movie about its mysterious Ouija board game to the big screen and the company's CEO Brian Goldner is letting fans know that "'Ouija' is not a board game come to life."

Goldner is promising a spooky film with horror genre elements that seem reminiscent of supernatural thrillers like "The Ring" and "The Gift." He said that filmmakers are keeping two operating principles in mind: one, be careful what you wish for; and two, is Ouija just a game or is there something deeper and more sinister going on?

"Half of the people that play Ouija as a seance think it's just a game," Goldner told MTV. "The other half thinks it's much more serious than that. So that idea, is this real or is this just sort of imagined? Is this something that's done by the participants or is this something that's really from beyond?"

"Because of course breaking through to the other side is something we're all kind of interested in," he continued. "It's such an intriguing idea, and that's something we want to explore in this movie."

So how will this be done? "In Ouija you ask questions and then you get these answers," explained Goldner. "And sometimes these answers are unintended answers. So be careful what you ask, that's the element of the game that I think is so fun. You sort of use that insight about really playing Ouija as the jumping off point for a story for a movie, and then you link it to something much bigger."

Goldner says the movie isn't about the board game, but then spends most of his time talking about the board game. Ok. I'm sold.

The board game movie genre is starting to bolster. I heard they're making Clue too. and now this. What's next, Monopoly? Snakes and Ladders?

I'm holding out for the game of life....that was sh*t, and damn can you get rich in that game, if it wasn't for those f*ckin kids in the backseat though!! Damn!

Good one about the game of life... if i remember correctly you got extra money for the kids. One time I played a guy who just kept collecting kids for no reason - he wound up with nine or something. Needless to say he lost!

next will be cramium or operation or some other stupid sh*t...and as for the difference between if ouija is real or not, listen to this, i'm playin with 3 people this one time, the phone rings, i asked my friend to go get it, meanwhile i ask who is on the phone, and it spells out the last name, he gets back and i ask who's on the phone....sure enough it was the person with the correct last name...you can't tell me these things are fake...they were put off the market for a reason

Hey this wont be the first game board movie.. There is already a "Clue" movie that came out back in 1985 with Tim Curry and Christopher Lloyd. This should be one of those good ol B horror movies that tries so hard to be an A-lister...
