DC Comics' "Suicide Squad" on the Big Screen

Warner Bros is going on a suicide mission, setting up the DC Comics property "Suicide Squad" for Dan Lin (Sherlock Holmes) to produce as a potential franchise.

In a departure from normal comic-based fare, "Suicide Squad" concentrates on a group of incarcerated supervillains rather than the usual focus on superheroes. The first version of the squad debuted in a 1959 DC Comic, and a series was launched in 1987.

Justin Marks ("20,000 Leagues Under the Sea," "Hack/Slash," "Street Fighter") is penning the screenplay.

"Suicide Squad" will feature a mix of well-known and unknown villains recruited by the government to accomplish a task deemed too dangerous for superheroes. The historically independent operators must bury their own interpersonal conflicts and agendas to form a cohesive unit to take on a singular task.

I was always a fan of the suicide squad though some of the members were strange. I would love to see it on screen.

Villains as the heroes? That is an interesting spin to the superhero movies, I would like to see this one on screen.

This sounds really good to me. I wonder if this will be based on Task Force X characters or those employed by Waller for her mercenary Suicide Squad. There are lots of characters to choose from for this movie... I'm guessing well over 50.

Famous is subjective - but I always enjoyed Deadshot, Bronze Tiger, Enchantress and Amanda Waller. Throw in Nightshade and Oracle to spice it up. Maybe Nemesis also.

I loved the DCAU episode based on the Suicide Squad (it wasn't called that was called Task Force X because it was a kids show and they're not allowed to name things in association to death apparently) so I'd love to see a movie.

Mmmk I get that its a movie..but I mean.. supervillians "helping" the gov?! Wouldnt they want to rain destruction up everyone? Why the hell would they help..they have nice bone in them im guessing right?

Odd, it's the Dirty Dozen in tights. All the villains are locked up. This is their chance to win their freedom -- they can't go rogue because of tiny bombs in their brains. Get your sh1t together, Odd.

I am guessing the only reason Supervillians would help the Government is if the Gonvernment has threaten them with something. Sort of like blackmail sort of things. The ol' switch-a-roo that even Heroes can't do but Governments seems to be able to.
