"Harry Potter 8" to Go Head-to-Head with "The Avengers"

"Harry Potter 8" to Go Head-to-Head with "The Avengers"Submit Comment
Warner Bros has announced released dates for some of the biggest upcoming projects, including several DC Comics' properties and one that seems particularly strange.

The studio has set "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II," the last film in the franchise to go head-to-head against Marvel's biggest film "The Avengers" on July 15th, 2011. I find it hard to believe that both of these enormous blockbusters will hit theaters at exactly the same time, especially when both films will be competing for some of each other's audiences.

Below are the release dates for Warners' films:

* Sherlock Holmes (December 25th, 2009): Guy Ritchie-directed film, starring Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law.

* Clash of the Titans (March 26th, 2010): Louis Leterrier (The Incredible Hulk) to direct, Sam Worthington to star.

* Inception (July 16th, 2010): The sci-fi epic that Christopher Nolan will direct before he begins work on "The Dark Knight" sequel.

* Jonah Hex (August 6th, 2010): The DC Comics' western to star Josh Brolin and to be directed by Jimmy Hayward (Horton Hears a Who!).

* Sucker Punch (October 8th, 2010): Thriller directed by Zack Snyder (300, Watchmen) and described as Alice in Wonderland with machine guns.

* Green Lantern (December 17th, 2010): Film based on DC Comics' superhero, to be directed by Martin Campbell (Casino Royale).

* Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows II (July 15th, 2011): Last installment in the franchise. Will hit theaters eight months after the first "Deathly Hallows" part.

Im pretty one of them will change their release date. It's still a long time away. HP7(2) versus Avengers doesnt seem likely...

Vineethchacko, your pretty huh? You should definitely re-read what you write before you submit numbnuts lol. But agreed, some of these are years down the line. Nothing is set in stone that far along.

Unless Marvel doesn't want to make any money, i suggest they think about changing their release date... or sabotage DH2

It's kind of hard for me to be that excited about future Harry Potter movies considering the book franchise ended some time ago and on such a sour and dull note. Either way, I can't see Avengers taking a back seat to HP considering the money the first Iron Man made and the frenzy of the movie goers as soon as they see Cap, Iron Man and Thor in that first teaser.

sucker punch sounds weird....if it's described as alice in wonderland w/machine guns...then why not just make 'american mcgee's: alice'?...that's like bambi having razors instead of antlers...or snow white and the seven thug dwarfs...yea...great idea...NOT!

Harry Potter will more than likely release later than that.

That's Insane. It got to change. those are Probably the 2 most anticipated films of 2011 so they most likely will change the date.
