Roger Ebert to Bring Back "Ebert & Roeper"

Roger Ebert to Bring Back "Ebert & Roeper"Submit Comment
On Roger Ebert's website, a reader asked Ebert to explain the ever-changing names of his critic shows, including "Sneak Previews" and "Ebert & Roeper."

After explaining all the different legal reasons for changing the names of the shows, Ebert added: "Another chapter to this saga will begin when Richard [Roeper] and I shortly announce a new movie review program."

It will be very interesting to find out what the concept of the new show will be. Ebert has previously revealed that he is still unable to speak and the combination of Roeper reviewing movies with a critic-of-the-week has not been bringing in satisfactory ratings. Stay tuned.

I always enjoyed watching their show, I'd be glad to see them back on air.

You can call sh*t whatever you want. Call it fried chicken or honey-glazed BBQ ribs. It will still smell like sh*t. Ebert gave Die Hard a poor review, but he gave Speed 2 a good one. f*ck him and his relative review methods, and his strong endorsement of Michael Moore.

Condemn Ebert all you want, minkowski, he was one of the only film critics to champion "2001: A Space Odyssey" and predict - correctly - that it would stand the test of time. I'm looking forward to what Ebert and Roeper are cooking up. ANYTHING is better than Lyons and Mankiewicz.

Dunno, dude, but I prefer to review movies my own way. Having some guy tell me what to think about a movie is about as far as from 'thinking' as I can get, unless Ebert and Roeper are going to start a dancing comedy act. In that case, the two might have some 'entertainment' value, but their input on movies is worthless. And Ebert really predicted 2001 would stand the test of time? To who, exactly? The same people that think the original Star Wars films are the greatest pieces of cinema ever? The same people that think that The Godfather is the most engrossing masterpiece film of all time? I'm not sure it's all that difficult to get one film's destiny correctly predicted, especially when I think 2001 is inferior not only to the book but plenty of other 'lesser' films. Boring psychedelic melodrama with a talking computer, a giant silent monolith and some guy that gets turned into a cosmic fetus. And I don't say that to 'push your buttons' because, again, I loved the book, just the movie not so much.
