No, it looks like ass. Back to the anime where DB is still enjoyable fodder.

This movie is gonna fail so bad...i cant even picture a sequel to this movie...smfh...they should have just left it alone or atleast give it to a director who knew what the f*ck they where doing

hopefully after this bails, they'll realize that anime is untouchable.

Tha anime isn't untouchable. I think they could do it with some over the top action filmed 300 style. Because the biggest problem, besides casting, is that they changed the enitire Dragonball world. Why is Goku in the city? Why is he fighting regular dudes? And I bet they are going to put much of the action in slow motion, which the show never did, they went hella fast all day long. But to film it 300 style you have a suspension of disbeliefe that allows the audience, even the non-Dragonball fans to accept that this isn't the real world and they wouldn't heckle the fireballs and flying like they will. It is the general audience that makes movies a success, and this movie looks like it will only grab the super fanboys that think if it is Dragonball it can do no wrong, and it will fail completely.

A large part of the problem is that DB is an anime, a cartoon, and enjoys success because of the idiosncracies of the cartoon media. translating that media into liveaction is going to destroy, no matter how clever the director, scriptwriter or CG team, some of those idiosyncracies. 300 was much easier to translate. it is set in the world of mostly mere humans. Db has robots, aliens, talking animals, mutants, deformed humans, midgets, et cetera, not to mention the ultra fantastic settings.

i agree with mrsammich...movie just needs to be done right...imagine what super mario bros sequel would look like...i'm sure hollywood will bring that back in no time lol...hell i got an idea for mario bros sequel...first one ends with daisy coming back and sayin 'you're not gonna believe this...'...well...that green slime turns koopa into that dinosaur thing with the spikes on his back...renames himself bowser...takes over the kingdoms that were restored during the time koopa was inactive...lots of different weird things that you would see from a lot of the games all put into the movie....would be a sh*tload of money...but hey...such rich bastards would probably purposefully make it horrible and still get their money...but Nolan came out and fixed batman...i'm sure the good directors out there will fix this mess

You know, I was already afraid that this was going to be about the same quality as D-Wars...and now seeing this trailer and the small shot of the dragon, it looks like my suspicions have been confirmed.

oh...and we (as in everybody) can fix the mess in the movie industry too...just don't pay to watch sh*tty movies lol...it's all based on the money that they get for it...if it looks bad don't watch it...if it looks decent...watch it only once on the big screen...and you could buy it on dvd if you want...if you think it looks simply AWESOME...then i say it's worth every penny...it's all simple though...just gotta give the deserving ones their money...definitely a hard plan to put into effect...but it can be done...we'll get our share of good movies again

DBE isn't a live action clone of DB, because Goku is a boy in DB and here he's a young man, so I guess DBE is set somewhere in between DB and DBZ. And in DBZ, Goku and others often fought inside the cities. Another thing: how exactly do you find an actor that faithfully and acceptably represents a character like Goku? A CG movie like Advent Children would've rocked and would've worked better. Akira Toriyama's renditions don't translate well to live action anyway. Using techniques from 300 would've only allowed a better rendering of unrealistic action. You'd still have to have totally CG characters if you want to remain true to DB and DBZ so why not skip that and go straight for all CG? Cut out the greenscreen middleman in liveaction and do it all digitally. Advent Children looked great and worked very well. I think a DB or DBZ CG film would've looked absolutely gorgeous. Looking at the trailer: DBE's casting sucks because they had to work with real people. The city looks absolutely NOTHING like any city in DB, so that could've been changed in liveaction and CG, but both would've cost more. Piccolo is just a guy in makeup, and that says lowbudget like nothing else. A CG film would've fixed that. Heavy reliance on vehicles, but DB is about warriors fighting with their bodies and swords (Trunks). Conventiall dress and appearances. Many of the characters look like they arrived for a wedding or to see a touring band. More vehicles. Is this 4X4: The Movie? Bad CG effects, set indoors, even though DB is most often outside under the sun. Bulma with double guns? Reminds me of Lucy Liu in Ecks Vs Sever. Or Tombraider. Bad, bad greenscreen. Look, in a nutshell, the people that greenlit this movie didn't have anough faith people would pay to watch it, so they gave it a limited budget. Very limited IMO. Lots of sh*tty CG backdropping and effects, but bad awful characterizations. Does this guy playing Goku have the right personality, or does he just sort of resemble him? More money would've helped, but DBE didn't get it. Period.
