Martin Campbell Takes on "The Green Lantern"

Martin Campbell Takes on "The Green Lantern"Submit Comment
Warner Bros is negotiating with Martin Campbell (Casino Royale) to direct "Green Lantern," the live-action film based on the DC Comics hero.

The emergence of Campbell puts "Green Lantern" at the top of DC properties being set for movie treatment by WB. While the studio is hoping director Chris Nolan will follow its 2008 smash "The Dark Knight" with another Batfilm, DC projects such as Superman and "Justice League" were expected to happen quickly, but have stalled.

Instead, the hot DC titles are "Green Lantern" and "Jonah Hex," the latter of which has Josh Brolin set to play a disfigured gunslinger in a film that begins production in April, directed by Jimmy Heyward (Horton Hears a Who).

So is the Lantern going to be black?

The black Lantern is John Stewart... who's part of the Justice League. My guess is that they'll use Hal Jordan instead.

Hopefully it's Hal Jordan but I'll take anyone over Guy Gardner. But yes, he'll probably be Stweart who is black.

It may be Stewart sine he was GL in the Justice League cartoon, but you never know. With luck, it'll be Hal.

I really like Campbell at the moment he's on a great track.

This is awesome news. Campbell directed two of my favorite 007 flicks ever and I think he'd do a great job with Green Lantern. However, if they don't go with Hal Jordan it will be a huge disappointment. He is the best Lantern. Period. It would also be great to go with Sinestro as the Villain.

they should do it on Mogo, screw Hal and Stewart haha

I hope they go in the order for the Green Lanterns'. The white one first, he was cool enough, but start it with Hal Jordan, then finish with the black one because he was the coolest, and he can fight Hal when he turns evil. That would be an awesome set of movies.

there are rumors Sam Worthington ("Terminator: Salvation, James Cameron's "Avatar") will star; so it probably won't be Hal Jordan. Martin Campbell reportedly wanted Sam Worthington to play James Bond before Daniel Craig was decided on

This is going to be awesome! I hope they don't try to tone down his powers like they did to the X men.

BobMcBob - What are you talking about dude? Why couldn't Sam Worthington play Hal Jordan? They're both white. The black Green Lantern is John Stewart.

Martin Campbell is a great director. Thats really cool he gets to direct a comic book flick. Great directors like Chris Nolan, Bryan Singer, Sam Raimi, Tim Burton, and Richard Donner have made great films, and then proven you can make a great comic book movie too. I think Campbell will do the same.

I'm looking forward to how this will turn out, seems like they definetly want it to happen. Just hope its decent because its possible they could f*ck it up in terms of story.
