Five New "The Road" Photos

Posted: February 5th, 2009 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
Five New "The Road" PhotosSubmit Comment
The big screen adaptation of Cormac McCarthy's bestseller "The Road" keeps getting pushed back. Star Viggo Mortensen believes the delays have to do with The Weinstein Company trying to get the film right. So while we wait for a trailer and a release date, please enjoy five new photos that we were able to get.

In the movie, a father and his son walk alone through burned America. Nothing moves in the ravaged landscape save the ash on the wind. It is cold enough to crack stones, and when the snow falls it is gray. The sky is dark. Their destination is the coast, although they don't know what, if anything, awaits them there. They have nothing; just a pistol to defend themselves against the lawless bands that stalk the road, the clothes they are wearing, a cart of scavenged food and each other.

"The Road" is directed by John Hillcoat (The Proposition) and in addition to Mortensen, also stars Charlize Theron, Guy Pearce and Robert Duvall.

Maybe if they post enough photos I can print them off and make a flip book so I can actually see this f*cking movie, becuase at this rate the real apocalypse will be here sooner then this getting released.

I'll spoil the ending for everyone: the father dies. Other than that, Cormac McCarthy's book is very, very dry, even though the father-son dynamic is certainly heartfelt. As a vehicle exploring a father's love for his son, and vice versa, the book is about three hundred pages too long, and would've worked far better as a short story in The Year's Best Science Fiction: Twenty-Fourth Annual Collection or something. Hopefully, they've deftly pruned the story in its film incarnation.

Excellent novel as usual with McCarthy but a guaranteed "gun--->mouth" kinda read.

God dammit Minkowski, You're an *sshole! There's an unsaid rule about movies and thats "not tell the ending to people who've not seen it!" God Ive said it again and again, and others have said it as well. So here it goes "YOU'RE A DOUCHE!"

You should've read the book, jackoff. Stop watching so many movies. The book isn't about the ending anyway, that's what children's books and films are about. It's a character study. Knowing the ending doesn't ruin either the film or the book, and if the conclusion is all you're looking for, you don't deserve either medium.
