Warner Bros Wants Many More Batman Films

Warner Bros Wants Many More Batman FilmsSubmit Comment
Today, Time Warner announced its Q4 earnings and in the process CEO Jeff Bewkes talked about "The Dark Knight" and the future of the Batman franchise.

"We look at Harry Potter It's fantastic to have franchises that last that long. We want to do that with Batman and Superman and perhaps Sherlock Holmes," said Bewkes. "The sequels are as good, with new characters added, as were the originals. That wasn't the case in the years ago. Warners has more tentpoles as an on-going strategy that very much lifts its distribution and performance. We think that's going to hold up our slate in the 2009 - 2010 period. We've got four more big tentpoles coming this year."

So it sounds like Warner Bros would like to continue the Batman franchise after Christopher Nolan is done with the trilogy. It's likely that Nolan would want to move on to other projects, but it's possible that he will stay on, the same way Sam Raimi did with the "Spider-Man" films.

I actually heard that Nolan was signed to 3, with an option for 5. And Bale was signed to 3 with a "Superman Vs Batman" movie option.

It would be cool to let someone else try making a Dark Knight Returns movie after Nolan finishes his trilogy. You could even move the franchise in a more super-heroic direction after that. I love the pseudo-realistic Batman world created by Nolan, but I'll be honest, I've been reading the comics since I can remember anything. Part of me is dying to see Batman beat the sh*t out of Killer Croc or Solomon Grundy.

File this one under "no sh*t."

f*ck if it was up to them they would put one out every 6 months untill the series is more dead then Ledger, and about as enertaining as the last sequals of batman

Christian Bale will never do more than one more and possibly a Batman/Superman movie.

"It would be cool to let someone else try making a Dark Knight Returns movie after Nolan finishes his trilogy. " You mean how Joel Schumacher took over Tim Burton's Batman franchise, or how Brett Ratner took over Bryan Singer's X-Men movies?

You can't see it that way. Nolan keeps redefining what a comic book movie "should" be like. And we had movies like Iron Man, Incredible Hulk and Hellboy 2 which ranged from great to decent. When you compare it to stuff like Ghost Rider, X3 and Fantastic Four you can see the improvement. Basically, Hollywood is learning (slowly) how to make a good comic book piece. They can find someone who is capable of making a good movie after Nolan is gone. And as far as X-3 goes, let's be honest here, the X franchise wasn't great to begin with.

Please somebody! Get Nolan to write and direct the next bond movie. If they got him it would be the best bond ever.

Once Nolan has completed his BatTrilogy, which way will they take the franchise??? Will they just let some soulless hack take the helm, and destroy the foundation that Nolan has lovingly and skillfully laid? Or, just like the comic books, will they start again. Give someone else's vision of the Bat. Another set of films with no relation to Nolan's?

i think Nolan will stick it out as far as he can and stop when the time is right....he is a brilliant and excellent director and has already satisfied my need for watching a GREAT movie unlike some directors out there...i wouldn't even blame him if he didn't do a 3rd...if heath were still alive...i'm bettin we'd see both joker and two face again in the 3rd and more :)...either way...i have a lot of respect for the hard work that those people poured into those movies
