Stephen King Does a Little Ranting as Well

Stephen King Does a Little Ranting as WellSubmit Comment
It's been quite a week, with so many Hollywood people passionately phrasing their dislikes about other Hollywood people. Christian Bale did it, Hilary Duff did it, and now Stephen King has decided to join in the fun by hating on Stephenie Meyer, the author of the series of books that "Twilight" is based on.

He first starts by pointing out the main difference between Meyer and JK Rowling, the "Harry Potter" author. "The real difference is that Jo Rowling is a terrific writer and Stephenie Meyer can't write worth a darn," King told USA Weekend magazine. "She's not very good."

He continued: "People are attracted by the stories, by the pace, and in the case of Stephenie Meyer, it's very clear that she's writing to a whole generation of girls and opening up kind of a safe joining of love and sex in those books. It's exciting and it's thrilling and it's not particularly threatening because it's not overtly sexual."

"A lot of the physical side of it is conveyed in things like, the vampire will touch her forearm or run a hand over skin, and she just flushes all hot and cold. And for girls, that's a shorthand for all the feelings that they're not ready to deal with yet."

The funny thing is that the rant was set in motion when King was asked a seemingly innocent question about whether his career has influenced younger artists.

Personally, I couldn't agree more with King. The Twilight series is nothing more than the pathetic daydreams of a woman who probably was a fat goth chick in high school.

That's why he's the Master!

I know a lot of teenage girls who like King so he doesn't have to be worried.

And I read the actual article... he said she "can't write worth a damn...

You know I read pleanty of reviews by Stephen King, both from his web site and from Entertainment Weekly, trust me he doesn't mind sharing the spotlight with new talent, he just doesn't think much of Stephany Meyers. And truth be told my girlfriend tried to read me some a while back and I have to side with King, the books are a strange niche project, it's like Mormon porn novels, no sex, lame lonely goth kinds of characters, and watered down action, the stories truely arren't meant to entertain anyone outside of either teenagers or the female gender.

MrSammich i agree with you on that...i mean...he shared it with JK Rowling...i think she's an excellent writer as well...there's a lot of sh*tty writers out there that either need to be out of the spotlight and make room for better ones, or write better

why are you putting together the "ranting" stars with Christian Bale? If what Duff and King are doing is the same "ranting" as Bale did, then you need a different word, coz Duff and King are just harshly and probably unprofessionally criticizing other artists, not screaming violently with cursing and insults for 5 mins. straight in a streak of madness. That's a rant for me. ...but then maybe my English is not that good.

"The creepy bastard can't share the spot-light. f*ck him." Huh? King has handed out more postive reviews and accolades than antyone else. How can you say that? It's like you know nothing about him.

Yeah, King is king. (And he is a huge fan of Haldeman, by the way, Minko.)

Agree 100% with Stephen King!....I hate the twilight series.

Steven King FOR THE WIN!
minkowski writes:

Stephen King is probably a 'big fan' of Dean Koontz, too. Haldeman sucks literary c*ck IMO. And as I said "King has handed out more postive reviews and accolades than antyone else." It's easy to be generous when your a god in the book publishing business especially when a book like Carrie has likely sold more copies than Haldeman's entire life work.
minkowski writes:

Oh, and when Haldeman writes a book like the Forever War, essentially social commentary wrapped up in a sci-fi package, it's definitely going to appeal to liberals like King that vigorously demonstrated against the Vietnam war. I mean, you get that the Forever War is pretty much about Vietnam? Really, Gunslinger, you're a fool if you don't examine WHY people like what they like. Do a search next time. And I'll bet one thing, I'll bet King cares little for Heinlein. Write an impeccable book supporting something liberals supposedly hate (nuclear family, war, abstinence...) and watch the hate roll in.
