John Carpenter to Direct "The Ward"

John Carpenter to Direct "The Ward"Submit Comment
The master of horror, John Carpenter (Halloween, The Thing, Escape From New York), is set to direct "The Ward," a psychological thriller that will star Amber Heard (Pineapple Express).

Written by Michael and Shawn Rasmussen, the film follows the disturbing experience of a young woman in an institution who is terrorized by a ghost. It is scheduled to begin shooting in May.

"'The Ward' is the kind of script that I've been looking for: a complex, visceral story, full of suspense and scares," Carpenter said.

I thought this forum was supposed to be about Carpenter's new movie, not hating minkowski. He hasn't even posted anything yet. Ah, I don't understand it.

Anyway, doesn't Carpenter usually write his own movies? "Escape From New York" and "The Thing" are instant classics, but over the years, he's lost his touch. After the egregiously terrible "Ghosts of Mars," maybe he finally decided he's run out of creative juice. It could be a smart move to start directing others' material, but it's damn risky. This new movie sounds really lame. I mean like "Vampires" lame. I think I'd rather see him direct the new Diablo Cody movie and retain and a tidbit of his respectability than make this.

Have Carpenter direct the next terminator and then have Bale throw a tantrum on him...He would take one of his smokes and put it out on his nut-sack for pulling some sh*t like that...JC is a great old school director that has sadly phased out over time...Welcome back and show McG(irlie bitch) how it's done!!
