Spike Lee to Tackle Another WWII Film

Spike Lee to Tackle Another WWII FilmSubmit Comment
Now that "Miracle at St Anna" is all done with, Spike Lee will be returning to a WWII setting, picking up the rights to Brendan Koerner's manhunt tale "Now the Hell Will Start."

Nonfiction thriller, subtitled "One Soldier's Flight From the Greatest Manhunt of World War II," recounts the story of an African-American soldier who murdered his lieutenant and then fled into the Burmese jungle.

Book uses the soldier's story to explore how the US military considered African-Americans unfit for combat and shipped thousands to India in 1944 to build the Ledo Road, a 500-mile project that extended through mountains into China.

Penguin Press published the book last year. It's the first from Koerner, a contributing editor for Wired magazine and columnist for the New York Times and Slate magazine.

another WWII movie??....uhhhh....i'm gettin sick of this sh*t....first there was Defiance with Daniel Craig, then Valkyrie with Tom Cruise, this year we got Inglorious Basterds from Tarantino that has yet to come out, and now this??...hollywood, i have one thing to say: your 'wood' is getting 'hollow'

At least Defiance was fantastic, Valkyire was ok....but i can only Imagine Spike Lee is trying to make another WW2 movie so he can have another go at a certin great director who is better then him, without even trying!! *Cough* (Clint Eastwood) *Cough*

My only complaint is that Spike Lee hangs around the idea of racism too much. Holding onto the past is what he is unknowingly encouraging likely 99% of American black leaders. I wouldn't call think African Americans since most black American's no squat about Africa, will ever see past books or photos or will ever go. Everyone needs to face the sad truth that for black America the racial segregated past is their only history until someone like Obama moves into the now and the future and not hang around the then. Not saying racism doesn't still exist in one form or another even today, but racism as a brick to a culture is sad and ignorant and not at all positive. I wish I could ask Lee this, why do the young black youth of America prefer to sit in the back of the bus after all their elders have done to get them a sit at the front? So let's get past the obvious and ignorant dying racism of old and see that its now all about a war between the haves and have nots and guess which side of the fence you sit Spike?

I am not going to see it, because Spike Lee is a true no-talent. It brings me some peace of mind knowing that if enough of his movies fail people will stop hiring him. But of coarse it won't possibly be 'his' fault... sorry all out of italics.

God, could Spike Lee make it any more obvious that he is obsessed with civil rights and the oppression of blacks? 25th Hour and Inside Man are great films of his, but I can't stand it when I makes these type of films demanding sympathy for the past.

Spike Lee, in another world or time, born into a country without racism, would've finished life as a career janitor. He's made racism, like so many black 'leaders', into a cottage industry. He should just name every one of his films 'Blame Whitey' and then sequentially add a number.

I can't belive i'm saying this but i agree with minkowski 100%
