"Slumdog Millionaire" Director Wins DGA AwardSubmit Comment
"Slumdog Millionaire," the longshot turned awards season favorite, has stayed on its hot streak with director Danny Boyle taking the top honor from the Directors Guild of America (DGA).

Boyle won the trophy Saturday night at the DGA's awards show at the Century Plaza, beating out David Fincher (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button), Ron Howard (Frost/Nixon), Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight) and Gus Van Sant (Milk).

"If I can get here, so can you," Boyle told the audience in a brief acceptance speech. "Dream kind, dream hard."

The "Slumdog" victory keeps its momentum going following victories at SAG for top ensemble, the PGA for top feature and the Golden Globe for best drama, along with 10 Oscar nominations. Boyle will face Fincher, Howard and Van Sant for the Oscar directing award along with Stephen Daldry for "The Reader."

Full list of DGA winners:

* Feature Film: Danny Boyle for "Slumdog Millionaire"

* TV Drama Series: Dan Attias for "The Wire"

* TV Movie: Jay Roach for "Recount"

* TV Comedy Series: Paul Feig for "The Office"

* Musical Variety: Brent "Bucky" Gunts for the Opening Ceremony Beijing 2008, Olympic Summer Games

* Daytime Serials: Larry Carpenter for "One Life to Live"

* Reality TV: Tony Croll for "America's Next Top Model"

Glad to hear that Danny Boyle is finally receiving the peer recognition he's so long deserved.

Damn it, what the hell took them so long to recognize Boyle's genius?
