20th Century Fox Picks Up "Chronicles of Narnia 3"

20th Century Fox Picks Up "Chronicles of Narnia 3"Submit Comment
One month after Disney decided to pull the plug on co-financing the third movie in Walden Media's "Chronicles of Narnia" series, Walden has found a new partner in 20th Century Fox.

Fox and Walden are still working out budget and script issues, but the hope is to shoot the film at the end of summer for a holiday 2010 release through the Fox Walden label.

Fox seems to be an ideal fit for the "Narnia" books given that it's been looking for a family-friendly ever since "Eragon" failed to catch on with audiences and died after one installment.

The film will likely be budgeted at $140 million, which is considerably less than the $215 million or so spent on last year's "Prince Caspian." Still, "Caspian," which is considered the least commercially appealing of the seven CS Lewis "Narnia" novels, ranked No. 10 in global box office performance last year. "Dawn Treader" is considered to be a more family film-friendly book, and the goal is to get back to the magical aspects present in the first "Narnia" pic but mostly absent from "Prince Caspian."

Ben Barnes, Skandar Keynes and Georgie Henley are reprising their roles as Caspian, Edmund and Lucy, respectively. New to the production is Will Poulter (Son of Rambo), who will portray Eustace Clarence Scrubb. Pic is being directed by Michael Apted.

YES! another director and hopefully other Writers!! the last one was really boring. I know its a book adaption but its was sooo boring that whole Caspian sh*t! Besides the Caspian Actor? come one! ok he wasnt blonde but he reminded me of that blonde blue eyed kindergarten kiddo from ERAGON! What the f*ck, that was a sh*tty movie as well the VFX were good but thats all they should have put the kid out and more dragon action - ok back to narnia For the 3rd movie PLEASE more Aslan Action, I like that Model so much its looks awesome. And some good dialogues would be good those from the second movie almost killed me....

Now, LOTRs was boring as sh*t. There's a series of movies just for insomiacs. Good to see Fox pick up the film, maybe they'll make the others.

Good news. Maybe a smaller budget will force more attention to script and less attention to SFX.

Well I was kinda hopeful for a better Narnia movie treatment when I heard they broke with Disney, now its safe to assume that that will never happen since Fox picked up. Poor C.S. Lewis, too bad his son is not as respectful of his adopted father's writings as Christopher Tolkien is of his father's work.
