Neil LaBute to Helm "Death at a Funeral" Remake

Neil LaBute to Helm "Death at a Funeral" RemakeSubmit Comment
Back in November we reported that Chris Rock was set to star and co-write "Death at a Funeral," a re-imagining of the 2007 comedy. Now, THR is reporting that Neil LaBute (The Wicker Man, Lakeview Terrace) has signed on to direct the new version, which will reteam him with Rock, who starred in LaBute's "Nurse Betty."

Plan is for an ensemble comedy about a funeral ceremony that leads to the digging up of shocking family secrets, as well as misplaced cadavers and indecent exposure. While the original was set in Britain, the new film will take place in an urban American setting.

Production is set to begin this Spring.

Title missing the 'at' Alex. And I admit a guilty pleasure. I enjoyed LakeView even it's a cliche film. Wicker Park no so much. Not a fan of Chris Rock. He has the anti-Midas touch: everything he touches sucks and dies.

*The Wicker Man (Also one of the best unintentional comedies in recent years. A masterpiece of terrible. Maybe this comedy will turn out to be an unintentional horror-thriller!)

The original movie was pretty good. Chris Rock's remake will suck like everything else he does besides stand-up comedy.

I just saw this movie. Way too soon for a remake.

I really hope there comes a day when movie studios will actually visit a library and discover a new story to tell rather than rehashing an old tv show or a film that was already made. There should be some sort of rule about remaking something that was released less than 5 years ago. Cinema is becoming a joke....

SweetJaneSays....u said it also!...a little over a hundred years ago...movies first came out...with original stories and inspiration for telling new stories...less than a 100 years later all we get is remakes, sequels, prequels, and everything else that's lame...but still...that's where our generation will make it right

it came out in 2007 and they're remaking it already?

This can only be terrible. Eat some d*cks Hollywood.

"Post missing "if" minkowski." I always, deliberately, leave something out of my posts, d*ckhead. It's to appease those that are further intimidated by proper grammar, syntax and spelling. I'm not posting for any sort of publication either.

Oh I am sorry minkowski, I merely pointed out the hypocrisy of picking up on Alex's mistake when you made one yourself. You are always ready to give a hard time to any person who makes the slightest mistake either grammatically or via a difference of option but the moment you shown the error of you ways you turn to vulgarity. Ha ha ha, d*ckhead. You are on a level that can only be reached by protozoa.
