No Singing for Wesley Snipes in James Brown Biopic

No Singing for Wesley Snipes in James Brown BiopicSubmit Comment
Director Spike Lee spoke to MTV News about his upcoming James Brown biopic, which will star Wesley Snipes as the Godfather of Soul. While Lee believes Snipes is a good actor, he won't be using his vocals when it comes to such famous Brown classics as "I Got You (I Feel Good) and "Get Up Offa That Thing" in the movie. Instead, Lee is planning to use Brown's own voice.

"I want to hear James Brown's voice," Lee said. "That's just my personal taste."

This isn't the first time that a filmmaker has dubbed a voice into a musical biopic. Taylor Hackford dubbed Ray Charles' original voice over Jamie Foxx in "Ray."

"I know Joaquin Phoenix in 'Walk the Line,' he did some of the singing," Lee said. "I'm a purist."

Both Lee and Paramount decided that Snipes is the right man to play James Brown in 2007. The project came together shortly after Brown died in 2006 of congested heart failure.

They are letting Spike Lee direct this! He is an untalented piece of sh*t. He has tried to make it with real Hollywood directors but he always fails. The only reason Inside Man made money was because it had Denzel and Jodie Foster, nothing to do with him! He is retarded, something you can't fix with practice, he is like that kid that is stuck at the water fountain trying to figure out which way the water goes in his mouth, so then he sucks on the faucet ruining it for all, HE RUINS THINGS BECAUSE HE SUCKS!!! Did I mention that I hate Spike Lee?...

I thought Snipes was in jail for three years? What, good behavior?
