I said it before, IM has some very impressive and innovative visuals.

Cloverfield should win this one. They did so much with only a fraction of the budget and managed to pull off some incredible visuals. I'd also go with the Dark Knight, due to the fact that the only noticable visual effect was the helicopter being tangled in the wires and everything else blending seamlessly without you realising it's digital.

The category is visual effects, people are forgetting that those include effects created not using only a computer. Iron Man had the best computer generated images along with Benjamin Button. I still say The Dark Knight is as deserving for all of its visual effects. Cloverfield was good in that department but none of them were anywhere near as innovative and it borrows greatly from other movies. I thought The Golden Compass did too, but that didn't stop it from beating Transformers.

as much as liked iron man...i just thought it didn't have enough action as it should...too much talking...if your gonna make a comic book into a movie...try putting more action than drama into it...isn't that what kids like to see??...the dark knight was great cuz it had both drama and action...heath legder made me jump out of my seat when he goes 'LOOK AT ME!'...that's gotta be the best acting i've seen in a while...come on hollywood, start signing actors who would commit hard work into role...and start coming up with better stories!...quit making so many damn sequels and remakes....keep it limited like the new batman franchise is doing

I back you Sev. Cloverfield and Dark Knight all the way.Of all the movies this year the effects in those two were the most undetectable.

Cloverfield's effects weren't detectable? Did I watch a different film? You could tell, obviously, the monster was CG, as good as it looked, and the bombers weren't real but so blacked out there was no way to say one way or the other. The collapsed buildings were definitely CG or matte paintings. When you can't tell CG from photography or film, that's a benchmark. Foam models and cardboard props more easily hit realism, and digitally removing wires long ago went from art to a cursory chore.
