Spike Lee Says "Inside Man 2" Could Begin in 2009Posted: January 19th, 2009 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
|
Director Spike Lee spoke to MTV News about his long-rumored "Inside Man" sequel, which was to be focused on Clive Owen and his crew of thieves being involved in a New York diamond heist.
"Naw, naw, not anymore," said Lee, adding that even though there are going to be big plot changes, the sequel will still take place in New York City.
"Inside Man 2" will see all the familiar characters return, which means that Owen, Denzel Washington, Jodi Foster and even Chiwetel Ejiofor will be back.
"Inside Man" writer Russell Gewirtz took the first shot at the sequel script, but Lee ended up going with writer/director Terry George (Hotel Rwanda). "I got an email from Terry George yesterday," he revealed. "He just finished — he's at the end of the first act." (I guess George writes his scripts backwards).
The problem with a film like this, is to not only get the story right, but to make sure that everyone's schedules are synched up. "If the script is up to snuff, we'll be shooting it," said Lee. "Here's the thing: if everything lines up—people's schedules are open, [we'll begin in] late summer, early fall."

HAHA Nice, well the 2006 film was just a weak Dog Day Afternoon but it had some decent acting. I try and see every Denzel movie, Deja Vu was awful and I don't care for Spike Lee especially recently.

Schwasted, thanks for the note on Deja Vu. I usually watch Denzel too but for some reason I kept avoiding that one. I guess my instincts were right.
I liked Inside Man (not loved), but I am interested in seeing this.

Yo Cinestarr, don't listen to Schwasted. He was probably wasted when he watched Deja Vu. I found it to be quite enjoyable Watch it for yourself.

Deja Vu wasnt anything special. They made it seem like it was going to be his best movie ever, Denzel I mean, but I guess that I have to keep Fallen at the top of tht list.

Deja Vu was a fun film, and although it makes little sense, it does try to maintain some time-travel logic; not much, mind you. It's just a good, feel-good film.

"spike lee. . .got sh*t on by clint eastwood" There's an easy explanation: because Eastwood's a man in reality, while Spike Lee's a whining, self-made victim bitch.

Dude, studios and directors need to learn that if you want to make a sequel, make a sequel. Don't hum and hah for three years and get nothing done.

Schwasted needs to watch more movies, INSIDE MAN was much more of a TAKING OF PELHAM 123 update. And DEJA VU was okay but had some awesome editing and cinematography.
