Cher Joins Johnny Knoxville in "The Drop-Out"Submit Comment
THR is reporting that Cher and Johnny Knoxville are attached to star in "The Drop-Out," a film written by Ricky Blitt (The Ringer), who will also direct.

The slacker comedy tracks the fortunes of a 35-year-old career college student (Knoxville) who is finally kicked out of his parents house. Desperate, he decides to get in good with the 62-year-old woman next door (Cher), so he can keep his food, couch and TV regimen intact. In the mix is the woman's ne'er-do-well son, who is looking for a father figure, even if it's a guy his own age.

Despite the early stages of the project, Cher recently let slip her enthusiasm for the script on "Ellen." The filmmakers are actively casting the son role.

While Cher hasn't appear in a film since the 2003 "Stuck on You," she won an Oscar for "Moonstruck" in 1987.

yeah, i originally thought see won the Oscar for Mask, not Moonstruck. Never saw Moonstruck, but Mask was a good movie and Cher was great.

Knoxville should be cast in the Expendables and this film should be put into Apatow's hands.

If I recall correctly, Cher was snubbed by the Oscars for her role in Mask. Or something to that effect. OTOH, Cher was nominated for a Globe (daaaaamn) and she won an award at Cannes.

"this film should be put into Apatow's hands." Do you hate Knoxville that much? Apatow's brand of humor is downright braindead. A film about a hot chick and a fat guy. A film about stoners, another film about stoners, and one about a forty year old virgin. Hilarious.

sounds decent enough, Knoxville is always great
