Warner Bros Puts DC Comics' Films on Hold

Posted: January 8th, 2009 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
Warner Bros Puts DC ComicsSubmit Comment
Warner Bros has previously promised to create a stronger relationship with DC Comics and to put several of the properties onto the fast track. We've heard talks of such films as Supermax, The Flash, Justice League of America, The Green Lantern, Wonder Woman and Superman, but no official information has been released.

Now, IESB found out from director David S. Goyer that most of these properties are now on hold. "A lot of the DC movies at Warner Brothers are all on hold while they figure out," said Goyer. "They're going to come up with some new plan, methodology, things like that so everything has just been pressed pause on at the moment."

He continued: "It was the double header of both 'Iron Man' and 'The Dark Knight' coming out, so more than ever I think they've realized, I think DC was responsible for 15% of Warner Brother's revenue this year, something crazy like that, so they realized that comic books, it's become a new genre, one of the most successful genres."

While it's terrible that we won't be seeing some of these films for a while, it's good to know that Warner Bros will take these properties seriously and not rush just to make a quick buck.

I really like that attitude, but unfortunately WB has a fly in the ointment that needs swatting.

Yeah the fly in the moment is FOX at the moment... With contract loop holes being looked into their DC properties. Comics are big money, but no one will be getting their claws into anymore projects I'm sure. Anyhow let's hope they get over making Superman, COUGH, darker.

good, im glad this recession is forcing studios to re-evaluate their future mistakes and focus more into quality comic scripts/directors over quantity [ie: american history Hulk redux and that superman comedy reboot staring the teacher from pay it foreward that gets to shave his head]
