Leonardo DiCaprio in "Beat the Reaper" AdaptationSubmit Comment
New Regency is acquiring screen rights to "Beat the Reaper" as a star vehicle for Leonardo DiCaprio.

The protagonist in the novel penned by Josh Bazell is a Manhattan emergency room doctor, whose life becomes complicated when a mobster recognizes the doc from his former life as a hitman who went into the witness protection program.

The book is just being published by Little Brown, which acquired the title in an eight-house auction in 2007. Bazell, a medical intern, was in his hospital scrubs on the night shift as publishers waged a seven-figure fight for his first novel.

Does this movie sound exactly like "A History of Violence"?

Didn't DiCaprio PLAY the Reaper at one point?

Yeah, if I were to hide out from the mob it'd most certainly be in New York City. I thought doctors were smart. And not to mention, isn't DiCaprio a bit young? It takes like 200 years to become a doctor so when would he have been a hit man? Junior high?

Sounds interesting, even if implausible for Leo, bad choice if he chooses to star.

'Does this movie sound exactly like "A History of Violence"?' --- no, history of violence was about kicking ass when it was necessary and not about whining how its too emotional to live each day to a psychiatrist. Thanks Leo for making ‘Body of Lies’ and ‘Blood Diamond’ just that extra bit of unbelievable and silly. Thank god himself that Departed had other proper folks to keep my interest.

LOL at the idiots who think Leo would be too young to be a doctor.

What are you talking about Mr.Ultra? Blood Diamond is one of best movies of all time and Body of Lies was one of best movies for the 2008.

"LOL at the idiots who think Leo would be too young to be a doctor." LOL at the bigger idiot who can't read. He's too young to have been a *hitman* THEN go on to be a doctor. Unless he was both..ooh plot twist! Yeah...no
