David Fincher Discusses "Se7en" Sequel

David Fincher Discusses "Se7en" SequelSubmit Comment
"Se7en" is currently David Fincher's highest grossing film, both loved by moviegoers and critics. So why haven't the studios tried to convince Fincher to make a sequel, like they have done with many other properties? Basically because Fincher would rather have cigarettes put out in his eyes.

Speaking at the Film Society, Fincher replied to a question about a "Se7en" sequel, stating: "I would be less interested in that than I would in having cigarettes put out in my eyes."

He added: "I keep trying to get out from under my own shadow. I don't want to do the same sh*t over and over."

The 1995 film is about two cops (Brad Pitt, Morgan Freeman), one new and one about to retire, chasing a serial killer using the seven deadly sins as his MO. It earned $100 million domestically and $227 million internationally on a $33 million budget. The movie is currently #33 on IMDB's top 250 films of all time.

Seems like the first movie wrapped up pretty nicely, with lots of surprises and a great twist. Would you want to see Pitt and Morgan chase another killer with a different MO?

I like Fichnerm he has the balls to tell the executives to f*ck off when they attempt to ruin his films!

f*ck NO. Firstly, Pitt would either be in prison or no longer a cop, and Freeman retired. Hence, END. f*cking Jewland Hollywood.

Fincher is smart and artistic enough to know better. Plus Pitt wouldn't dream of it.

no, it was great enough as is and atleast he seems to know that and dosent wanna drag sh*t out like some other films have been.

Who asked him that kind of sh*t anyway? Was him/her retarded? When a movie is that great you leave it alone, period.

That is a movie that never needs a remake or sequel. Leave Fincher alone. He knows what the f*ck hes doing.

It's not like he hasn't worked with Brad Pitt 3 times since. And now the three are reuniting on Rendezvous with Rama so it's good that each movie is new material and not a sequel.

Dear god no, look what they did to Indiana Jones when they thought people wanted a sequel. Granted, the idea was awesome but the movie sucked. Dont rush something on the basis that people will watch anything if its a sequel. God that movie sucked ass too. South Park was right, they raped Indy

wow cool idea. the movie could be called "Ei8ht" and the teaser poster could show an 8 billiard ball with blood on it. the surprise uncredited villain could be Tom Cruise reprising his role from "The color of Money". Crazy. now come on dont tell me u wouldnt go see this one

If they did do another movie, wouldn't pitt's character be just getting out of prison for killing the serial killer? seems like a good premise. i'd keep freeman out of it (even though i love that guy in everything) unless it just like a cameo. pitt's probably wouldn't be a cop anymore either. wow, i think i just killed it
