"The Thing" Prequel Plot DetailsPosted: December 25th, 2008 by WorstPreviews.com Staff

Last we heard, the upcoming "The Thing" sequel is in fact a prequel with events leading up to the 1982 John Carpenter film. Now, Bloody-Disgusting was able to get the working plot details from the new movie.
"In the screenplay by Ronald D. Moore, the prequel takes place from the Norwegian camps point of view. An American scientific expedition to the frozen wastes of the Antarctic is interrupted by a group of seemingly mad Norwegians pursuing and shooting a dog. The helicopter pursuing the dog crashes leaving no explanation for the chase. During the night, the dog mutates and attacks other dogs in the cage and members of the team that investigate. The team soon realize that an alien life-form with the ability to take over bodies is on the loose and they don't know who may already have been taken over."
The original movie, which stars Kurt Russell, revolves around a group of scientists in the Antarctic who are confronted by a shape-shifting alien that assumes the appearance of the people that it kills.
Does the plot sound more like a remake?

Dang why don't they make a movie on how earth was made! I know for sure now with all these remakes they have the details for that movie. They should have made a sequel and not mess with the first one. Maybe there remaking the first to have a better ending so they can lead up to a sequel.

a sequel could have been a lot more interesting I think. all the rescue party needs to find would be some infected blood in the snow and bam they bring back the samples to a small town and all hell breaks loss

I like the idea of a prequel, but the whole premise should revolve around the footage shown when the Norwegians find the spaceship in the ice, and then uncover everything. When Kurt Russell visits the Norwegian camp we see I man who slit his wrists and throat, and what it apparently "the thing" burnt alive; so show that. Don't go into some plot that sounds exactly like the 1982 version (which was a great movie).

It's not a remake!!! how come any of you don't understand this???
Bloody-Disgusting tells us that it's going to be a prequel, about the norwegians from the original movie and then explains us what happens in the original movie, and what the norwegians caused, for those who don't know.

for f*ck sake that is exactly the f*cking same but it will suck ass because there is no Kurt Russell or Keith David. the only way it could have been good would be if it was a prequel from the Norwegian's encounter, that led into the first one, BUT then it'd have to be in Norwegian so probs wouldnt be worth it.

OLK you have a point there the whole movie would have to be in Norwegian for it to be a true sequel. I wonder how there going to get around that.
