Stephen Chow is NOT Directing "The Green Hornet"Submit Comment
After everything that we have heard from Seth Rogen regarding his upcoming "Green Hornet" movie, Variety is now reporting that Stephen Chow has dropped out as the director. He will still play Kato in the film.

The studio and producer Neal Moritz are in the process of setting a new director to keep the picture on track to begin production by spring.

Chow, who directed and starred in "Kung Fu Hustle" and "Shaolin Soccer," signed in September to direct the film and play the role originated in the TV series by Bruce Lee. He stepped out as director over creative differences.

The film was scripted by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, and Rogen is starring as the masked crime fighter. The script will likely be polished, and a director could be in place by year's end.

hopefully "creative differences" does not equal "Sucky Movie", being a major Green Hornet fan

Sad, very sad. But not surprising. As said in spanish: "se veía venir". Chow has a very personal style wich has nothing to do with Rogen's. And if he is going to jump to Hollywood as a director, he may prefer a most personal project. Anyway, I want to see him as Kato, and I don't care if it respects the original, I've never seen it

wonder who'll replace him, looking forward to this very very much!

Stephen Chow is no Bruce Lee. No one can replace the Lee.

Personally, I'm glad that he dropped out. I think he's a good pick for Kato, but not for director. I'm hoping to see this film with a different style than what Chow's directorial resume would have otherwise suggested.
