Tim Robbins is Tony Stark's Father in "Iron Man 2"

Tim Robbins is Tony StarkSubmit Comment
LatinoReview is reporting that Tim Robbins (Shawshank Redemption) will be playing Tony Stark's father Howard Stark in the upcoming "Iron Man" sequel. Robbins will appear in an important flashback sequence that will set up "The Avengers" and "The First Avenger: Captain America."

Back in September "Iron Man" screenwriter Mark Fergus revealed that the relationship between Tony Stark and his father will be explored much further in the sequel. "Tony was a young adult or a teenager when his father died and that relationship will be played up in a lot of cool ways in other Marvel movies," he said, adding that in "Iron Man 2" "the relationship will definitely be explored a lot further."

In addition to the father, the site added that both Hawkeye and Black Widow will also make appearances in the movie. And they won't be cameos.

Is Tim Robbins a good choice to play the father, when he is 8 inches taller than Downey?

Why even mention the father? Anyhow Robbins is a solid actor under good direction, so no problems on his end I see.

The father made the material that Cap's shield was made out of.

Susan Sarandon will play Tony Stark's Father's Mother, Grandma Stark. An insider confirmed this. It's true.

They won't be in any scenes together. He's going to be in flashbacks.

ay yo Johnny Neat.. Why not mention his father??? How does this not sound good to you. It sounds perfect to me.. an Robbins isnt a bad choice, could be someone better but not a bad choice

Can't look at Tim Robbins without recollecting his advocation and spread of 9-11 conspiracy theories. Politically, he's a very, very nutty guy. I'd prefer David Morse in the role. Did a fine job in Contact. He resembles Downey as much as Robbins. I have no issue with IM2 focusing some on Stark's childhood. IM was personalized via Starks moral dilemma, so it makes sense they want to personalize IM2 via Starks family. It's the obvious route.

sounds good to me, they need flashback stuff involved anyways for developing more background story.
