"Watchmen" is NOT an Action Film

"Watchmen" is NOT an Action FilmSubmit Comment
During the Butt-Numb-A-Thon, Jackie Earl Haley introduced the first twenty-two minutes from the upcoming "Watchmen" movie and Chud was there to witness the whole thing. Here are a few thoughts about what the they saw.

"It will look and feel like a real movie. That's a weird thing to say, but there are lots of people out there who, having only seen the trailers released to the public, are jumping to the conclusion that Zack Snyder has made a Watchmen filled with speed ramping and flashy money shots. From what I've seen this isn't even remotely true at all. The footage is stylish - well shot, with rich visuals and dynamic compositions - but it looked more like a modern take on a noir film than anything else. What I saw was moody, sometimes muted. Snyder allows his takes to be long, eschewing a quick cut style that many seem to think would rule the day in this film. The 22 minutes I saw didn't feel like an action film at all."

We already know that the comic book that the film is based on is not necessarily action-packed, which is a reason why many believe that it cannot translate well to film. The trailers have shown us scenes that include battles and big special effects, but apparently, you should expect to see a movie that tells a 2 hour and 35 minute story, rather than give you eye-candy.

Are you disappointed that "Watchmen" will be limited in action?

Are you asking us if we'll be disappointed that Watchmen will actually be a true adaptation? The book was limited in action, so what reason is there to worry?

Well thats a good thing that it has limited action. It stays true!

Give me the book on film period, don;t add what isn't there or rewrite anything. That's what any logical lover of Watchmen would and does want.

No. No. I think they should add a whole lot of extra action scenes that aren't in the comic. Like whatever you imagine Bad Boys 4 would be like. And then they should change the ending aswell-Rorschach jumps out of a plane over manhattan riding a nuke. And while they're at it, maybe it should take place in space.

what a stupid question, Zack Snyder followed the book the way it was and thats why its going to be amazing! The amount of action taking place will be whatever amount took place in the book and there was enough to hold people over. The book is fantastic! and so the film will be also.

Zack Snyder DID NOT followed the book the way it was. He changed the funckin ending. I wanna see the goddamn Squid.

This is good news: IŽd rather see a story with action than an action story on this one. The material is riveting enough, and doesnŽt need to be drowned in useless fistfights and explosions, although some of those are also important!!:)

That's not true. WP had an article a few weeks back about how Keanu Reeves didn't know how to use a computer.
