Guy Ritchie Says "Sgt. Rock" is His Next FilmPosted: December 13th, 2008 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
|
Producer Joel Silver has previously revealed that he is working on an adaptation of the "Sgt Rock" comic book, with Guy Ritchie (Snatch, RocknRolla) attached to direct.
Then Silver mentioned that the project is on hold because Quentin Tarantino's WWII drama "Inglourious Basterds" picked up steam. "Inglourious Basterds is a war movie and I'm looking forward to seeing it, but it's something that was a direct competition to Sgt. Rock so I felt that we should hold off and do that when we can," he said.
So basically, Ritchie's next film was supposed to be "Sgt Rock," but because of "Inglourious Basterds" he moved on to "Sherlock Holmes," which is currently filming.
Now Ritchie chatted with IGN, revealing that he will begin working on "Sgt Rock" as soon as he is done with "Sherlock Holmes." "I think people are slightly intimidated by the size of the budget," he said. "But I think we have a good script."
Ritchie also said that he already has an actor in mind to play the Easy Company Officer, unfortunately, he's not yet ready to reveal who that is. The only clue he gave is that the actor wouldn't be someone from his previous films.
He also said he wouldn't update the film to modern day, instead keeping the WWII setting.
